Thanks for the good words! The choice of ePub as the the e-book format was Lulu's. I have installed a non-adobe ePub reader on my iMac, it works via Firefox and seems better the the Adobe reader. Below is a link to other free ePub readers for Window and Mac Hope this helps. -Robert http://www.addict...

9th Annual National Shaving Collectibles Meeting - Remindeer

Posted for Jerry Rosenthal who has organized this meeting in Ohio for the past eight years and does an excellent job of providing a unique venue for razor and shaving collectors. BTW this is not a for-profit or commercial event, it is by and for collectors! –––––––––––––- Just a Reminder! The 9th Na...

Darwin

As you concluded, it looks like a variation of the Darwin Deluxe. Darwin made a mustache (or lady's) razor called the Bijou with a similar but narrower head and a smaller "art deco" handle. See the L-W Safety Razor Price Guide, p. 10 for pictures of both types; the price listed was "$...

Don't know but the L number is 1920 and the O number is probably 1921. The case looks like a Pocket Edition No. 503, Flower Pattern. The razor for this set would normally have a fancy flower pattern handle, but in the 1920s a standard-handle razor was substituted. See Krumholz's Gillette book, p. 14...

The design of the razor is correct for an AutoStrop of circa 1906 and AutoStrop did make silver-plated razors of this type. Below is from an AutoStrop ad of October, 1906.

"Titanic" Artifact - AutoStrop razor

Since this month is the centennial of the Titanic disaster, I though I would post this photo of an interesting artifact. The photo was retrieved from the www.titanic-online web site in July 1999. I believe the razor was offered for sale then. The web site still exists, but not the razor picture. The...

Sorry, I can't identify the razor, but strangely, the patent number is wrong or not a U.S. patent. The razor is similar to the B-P Shaver made by the Bigelow Parkin Co. of Pittsburgh, PA, and others, Gronbech, and Handy. The Patent is U.S. 1376759 (May 3, 1921), Christian E. A. Gronbech, Woodhaven, ...

Regarding the Star razor handles, I don't mean to quibble :), but the handle parts of the old Kampfe Star razors have raised 'dots' in the shape of stars. Other brands copied the handle and used dots instead of stars because Kampfe had a design patent on the star pattern (No. D23699). The slide-on e...

Don't know -- but this Serial No. is one of the last for this type of razor. According to serial no. lists, 'probably' the last number was P679777 in 1921. Then the New Improved version (1920 patent) was introduced.
