Re: Occam's Razor
Gary, can you supply a picture of, or link to, the razor? Googling (or DuckDuckGo-ing) yields only the philosophical Occam's Razor. Thanks!

Re: Ear Wax - A Novella
For the past few months my left ear has been almost completely blocked. I tried Debrox and I tried Hydrogen peroxide to no avail. What a remarkable coincidence: I just got back from my Doctor's office, where he irrigated both of my ears to clear the occlusions. Prior to that, my hearing had degrade...

...The rest of Canada remains slightly embarrassed by Alberta and just how like American Republicans they are, but they do make some good rye... Actually, more than a few of us Albertans are embarrassed by a segment of our population. Thread content: I'm not a whiskey fan - I prefer a good sipping ...

Re: New blade bad shave
Welcome, Robert! I'm new to straight razor shaving as well (two months' worth of weekends). My first SR experiences left me looking like I tried shaving with a chain saw; rinsing my face with water stung, so imagine the stimulation that resulted when I applied the aftershave. I'll leave it to ...

Re: The state of the current English Shaving soaps
Olle, please let us know how you get on with the Trumpers soaps. I purchased a puck of Eucris some time ago, and while the scent was fantastic its lathering capabilities left something to be desired. (OK, a *lot* to be desired.) I used up the puck in the shower. I did get a bottle of Eucris EDT just...

I wish Lynn all the best in his retirement. His straight razor video[1], along with The Art of the Straight Razor Shave, have helped me immensely.

Re: Razorine shavette type razor - uses an unbroken double edge blade
That's an odd-looking design; the handle seems like it'd be awkward to hold onto, especially if your hands are wet. I did find a review here: https://shavenation.com/products/razori ... -or-chrome
Did you buy it? If so, let us know how well it works.

Re: good sipping whiskey?
Yes, I know it's not whiskey, but have you tried a good rum? A friend gave me a bottle of 12YO El Dorado and I was really impressed, so much so that I bought the 15YO thinking it would be better. It was not; I wound up paying more money for an inferior drink. Anyway, the 12YO gets rating of 7.8 on h...

November update: Anyone use a Genco razor?
I now have 6 or 7 weekends' worth of experience with my Genco. Since I've begun this journey I've seen my straight-razor shaves go from "amusingly bad" to "not altogether awful", and post-shave irritation is essentially zero. The cheeks and jaw line turn out great, but the neck f...

One of these years, we will make our way over to Ireland during one of our trips to the UK and check out the https://titanicbelfast.com/ exhibit. Yes, go - it's worth it! Last year, when Mrs. K and I were touring the UK and Ireland, our tour bus stopped at the dockyard where the Titanic was built[1...

Re: Face soap
The best I can do for Wool Fat soap is $16.50[1]. That's quite a bit, considering that I can get Dove soap for sensitive skin for $2.99 CAD on sale ($6.49 regular price). If you can scoop it for $3.60 a bar, good for you! I assume you've already considered using a face cream, right? Bill [1] https:/...

Re: Taking a break from really sharp blades
It comes down to technique, doesn't it? If you use a Feather all the time you get used to being very light-fingered in your shave and you don't end up cutting yourself. The problem comes from switching around and confuses the muscle memory. This makes sense to me. I'm still using up my sample packs...

Has anyone tried Pereira? mantic59 opines that it's like MWF only better[1] but I can't find any comments on it in a quick search of the SMF archives.

Brutus, it could very well be that my reminiscences are out of whack. I'm pretty certain that he had the aftershave, but one thing I definitely recall is that my grandmother had the cologne in the cylindrical bottle with the trademark blue-and-gold label. Today's aftershave definitely puts me in min...

Re: Taking a break from really sharp blades
If I'm in a hurry to get out the door, but need to shave, I can use a somewhat more "forgiving" blade, or a milder razor, or some combination You raise a good point. I tried using my straight razor last Sunday when I was in a rush, and what a mistake that was! In fact, that's exactly why ...
