I still feed my DE and injector razors US Personnas, they are (still) my favorites, based on performance (for me) and I will continue buying these any time I need DE blades so long as they are available.

Tom, have you scouted the PX lately? VDH is now marketing a 2-sided shaving soap, it's translucent green on one side, and white on the other, and is sold with the idea that it doubles as a shave soap and a shower soap. I used 2 of these on my last trip overseas and loved them. Worth a trip to look,...

I used to get sucked into these lists of "who's the worst shave gear hoarder" shame...but not so much now.
I only use one soap or cream at a time to shave now.

Gordon, I can tell you (not so) secretly wish you could have had a better experience with the straights you tried....as it comes up in conversation a good bit. Have you thought about keeping a straight or two around and some hones and strops, just to mess with them until they shave how you like them...

I used one of these my last deployment for about a week or so (the USO was giving them away for free so I couldn't resist) It wasn't bad, if not spectacular. If you think it is good for sensitive skin and are feeling a bit adventurous you may also like a slant DE....it seems counterintuitive but the...

Just my opinion, but keep the Dovo, and get it sharpened. Stropping wrong even once can mess up your edge badly. Might also want to consider getting a second razor. I have several Dovo razors (and umm others) and all are excellent shavers. However there was this one...that simply did not agree with ...

just kidding. enjoy your transition into straight razors, and don't lock them in a drawer at night, as they multiply rapidly.

Perhaps this is digging into ancient history a bit, (not sure if it was before this forum though!) there was a gentleman selling a shaving product which was supposed to be used sans water, does anyone else here remember it? Supposedly one specifically was told NOT to use water until the final rinse....

Not sure I have a "favorite" anymore, I used to lean toward C&E sweet almond oil soap and Castle Forbes creams... but lately I'm just trying to work through my rotation. In fact I even tossed a puck of (quite decent btw) tabac that I'd been using on and off since oh, the dawn of time. ...

I remember when a lot of us OLD GUYS on the forums bought Joris soaps, I can't *exactly* place the scent, but it wasn't unscented. It was light, and actually a very refreshing scent.
It also shaved very well.
I'd actually thought it was no longer produced for some reason.

Well, perhaps I will be shunned for this...
but lately I've really been enjoying the new dual use soap by VDH...
It's just a glycerine soap (clear on half, white on half) marketed to shower and shave with the same puck....
but I like it.

It appears I have come to this sad news very late, however I would count myself lucky if in my final days or hours I show even half the courage and honor "Gramps" showed here during his own. There is one less true gentleman, indeed true man, amongst us. Your father, at least here, is and a...

I've actually heard on good authority that neither boars NOR badgers enjoy being squeezed. Most don't even like being shaken.
With either, mind the teeth and all the other sharp pointy parts.

This one goes back in the archives a bit. I pretty much agree with my original posting (on sandalwood) if those selections are still available. I know Crabtree&Evelyn has been a bit "iffy" last several times I've been there wrt finding anything I wanted.
