Re: VCR movies need to be converted
Are you talking about a few home movies or a large commercial movie collection? We took our DVDs of home movies to a local videographer who had equipment to convert them to digital format. I then used iMovie on my Apple desktop to edit them down and burn them to DVDs. I think most fairly new desktop...

I like and respect the regulars here. It’s a shame that posts can go days or even a week or more with no response.

Glad you’re pleased, Sam. I don’t think you can get much better than Lucchese, unless it’s custom-made Lucchese!

Re: Boots
Sam, I love that pecan ostrich. It’s exactly what I’ll order if I decide to try Tecovas. I’m pretty sure they ship and return for free, so I’m not too concerned about buying without trying on. Here’s a link to the Lucchese site on how boots should fit. Enjoy those boots, non-cowboy! They will look g...

Re: Boots
I have several different models of AE non-western dressier boots, from Chelseas to perforated cap toes. They aren’t cheap, but AEs offer many more size choices than most manufacturers. They’re worth a look if comfort is a prime consideration.

Memphis is a great place to rock a pair of nice cowboy boots. I’ve worn my Luccheses with my nicest suits.

I can only imagine how disruptive a film cew would be in a small village like that. Heck, they even challenge the patience of jaded New Yorkers.

Re: What are you reading?
Both are very good, although I'm only about halfway through "A Legacy of Spies". They are fairly short pretty accessible among le Carré books, which can be a bit of a challenge.brothers wrote:Jim, how would you rate these 2 books? I've been curious about them for quite a while now.

Re: What are you reading?
"A Legacy of Spies" by John le Carré. I had to read "The Spy Who Came In From the Cold" first because the new book relates back to the events of the earlier one. Though I've read almost all of le Carré's works, i had strangely never read the one that really launched his career.

Re: Spare Wheels and Slime
Some of that canned stuff will eat up your wheels. It ruined the wheels on my boat trailer. I guess if the car manufacturer includes it, it's OK.

Re: A new or at least different car
My wife's first car was a 1964 Beetle, complete with 6v electrical system. I had to push it to start it in the morning, and then she parked it on a hill to get it to start coming home. Chris I had a car like that. A '64 Plymouth Valiant. The trouble was, the slant-6 engine was bulletproof. You coul...

Re: A new or at least different car
I still love the sound of those VW air-cooled engines on the rare occasions when I run across an original on the road. They had a very distinctive voice.
