I would think that Head and Shoulders would dry out anyone's scalp. I would start by finding a gentler shampoo.

On the 3-piece - Yes, all handles and heads are interchangable, and also with other brands that use the Merkur heads like Edwin Jagger etc. Others will probably chime in with a better explanation and indication of interchangable brands.

I agree with everything both of these guys wrote, and especially with the quoted portions. I think an open comb teaches good technique and if I haven't...

One of the best creams available in my opinion. Used to be my exclusive Monday shave. The only downside is it will stain a brush, which is why I always use the Vulfix 2235 super.

Andy, what do you think of the Norne?
I like it a lot, and it allows me to wear stuff I'm normally allergic to - like fern and moss. Perhaps because it only uses "absolutes" as opposed to EOs? My two favorite Slumberhouse fragrances are Norne & Jeke.

I think the gap between the base of the razor and the edge of the blade is as important as the angle. You can vary the angle yourself as you shave with any DE razor (highly recommended), but there is little that can be done about the gap

Nice to be normal. Think I have experienced parts of all the post on this thread in my short experience. My beard grows pretty much "straight out".
I always do three (3) passes:
  • Down (WTG),
    Up (ATG), and
Sideways (XTG, except for on my neck which is always up after the 1st pass).
