Re: Tulip etc

We need more faces, so we might use more of our brushes. I'd be willing to shave ~3 faces a day. How about you?

Re: Camel Milk Soap

A South African woman? I don't see how it affects the soap and its functionality. The soap's lather has the same feel as any other olive oil soap I have used - there is a marked slipperiness even when there is little foamy lather. I don't know how to describe that, but anyone who has used an olive o...

Re: New Rooney Finests

I believe the boar brush comes from the era when Rooney was originally active - not the more recent and all-too-brief flowering when Lee Sabini acquired the name. Gordon used to talk about Rooney being an old respected brushmaker, but that was before my time and I was never aware of them until they ...

When We Were Young

A year or two ago I discovered a box in the basement with many old films in it. I have scanned a few negatives and slides that looked appealing, but many remain. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7271/27251588835_424af20031_c.jpg 1976 #1 by chrism229 , on Flickr https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5831/2390...

Re: Camel Milk Soap

I spent an hour on the treadmill and afterwards I really needed to use some soap. So I did use the camel milk soap and it wasn't horrible. A bit more drying than I like for washing hair, but fine everywhere else. Lovely scent. It would be easy to use olive oil as the fat in a home made soap, and I f...

Camel Milk Soap

Pippa brought this back as a laugh when she passed through Dubai recently. Rose geranium (my favorite Floris bath soap scent!). It is a soap, but an olive oil soap, so the scent might be the best part, although it does have some beeswax in it too, so it may not be as thin and useless as most olive o...

All the same, I really should stop reading this thread, as I'm not enjoying the imagery at all. Carry on, briefly. Or, to be continued s...

You are a very, very sick person, and I congratulate you!

The prototypes for those (Apothecary Shop) are the finest brushes I own. I probably ought to use them.

I'm not sure I want to visualise you gents in your underwear over breakfast. On further thought - I lie. I'm quite sure about it Having reached the age where I look ridiculous (if not actually disturbing) in any form of underwear I shall have to do the logical thing and go 'commando'! There! Now I s...

Re: VCR movies need to be converted

Gary, Such services end up being very expensive unless you are talking of a very few tapes. There are two options, though. You can buy a combined DVD/VHS player that can record in either direction, and with a little effort, you can make a DVD that will play in any DVD player. Examples here . They ar...

Re: News about Straight Razor Place forum

Straightrazorplace.com is just a blank page, so I don't think anyone will get banned there. However, straightrazorpalace.com (note the extra 'a' - this is the old place reincarnated under the same ownership) has forbidden discussion.

Re: Taylor Old Bond Street Avocado Cream gone hard.

A few years back I even dried out some creams in a film drier just to turn them into soaps (I see the photos have gone as Vince nuked the gallery). Just curiosity, and they still worked fine. Re: A Blast From The Past

At one time I prided myself on owning at least one tub or one puck of every shaving cream or soap from the official (non-artisanal/homemade) market. I've given away a lot, but still have most of it. Including the entire remaining world supply of Vinolia, original Woods of Windsor soap and the glorio...

Re: News about Straight Razor Place forum

A little more research shows that discussion of this matter at SRP is now strictly verboten, so presumably there is some embarrassment involved. Rumour has it that a person called Luke Webster has recently emerged in Mordor and may be behind the domain name snatch. https://www.reddit.com/r/Wetshavin...

Re: Home Page and Gallery

I think I nuked my photos in the gallery when it began to malfunction. If the images there are still showing up in old posts you could make a case for keeping them, but if they aren't displaying then I'd say trash the lot.

Re: News about Straight Razor Place forum

I assume they forgot to renew the registration of sraightrazorplace.com, and someone swooped in and snapped it up. At that point it either become the best URL a Pakistani straight razor company could wish for, or it is offered back to the original owners for a large fee. I can see why they thought a...

Re: Home Page and Gallery

No one has been able to post an image to their gallery since the previous forum update. That particular add-on would no longer work and could not be made to work. I daresay Vince could find and plug in an alternative, but it would be a few days work to get it all working smoothly, and then it would ...
