Re: Cartridge Razors - 5

Murray, I consider you one of the forums shave gurus's and so it doesnt surprise me that you change up lathers for razors :D I use the same stuff pretty much every day, but even if i didnt, the one thing i will not change is my lather; dense and uber dry for me thanks! The only cart razor that work...

Re: Cartridge Razors - 5

dominic I'm glad you have found an alternative in the feather. As much as i want to use it, the soap clogging up the blade in less than one swipe down is too infuriating for me to continue using it. The handle is really nice though.....wish fusion blades could fit on one :) clive I found it clogged...

Re: Cartridge Razors - 5

Dominic, Having reread your post twice, still can't figure out if you used the MR3 in the fixed or pivoting mode. (Though I inferred from your comments, like me, the pivoting option didn't seem to tempt you). In the fixed mode, and averaging 2 - 2 1/2 passes per shave, 7-8 face shaves seemed optima...

Re: Cartridge Razors - 5

I was intrigued with the Feather MR3 handle when I read Gary's posts here, and eventually (I'm only human :D ) was unable to resist ordering one to try for myself. The aspect of this razor that caught my eye was the option to switch from fixed to pivoting.* I've long been of the opinion that, contra...

Re: My world in black & white

Less grainy works well, I agree. I like that you've taken something made of straight edges and angles and produced images with a more organic, flowing feel. Also, the use of boards like that serves as a reminder of ships of yore, in contrast with the (frankly rather terrifying looking) behemoth in y...

A quick update - I've been in communication with Vince on this, and he's looking into it. I can't give an estimate on turnaround time, but he is aware of the request.

Very good. I also found out I've been pronouncing IKEA incorrectly all this time.

Re: Another One of "Those" Articles - DE v Cartridge v Strai

(I'm thinking of trying the Harry's option) excellent customer service, excellent price, excellent handle, excellent everything except the shave itself! The good thing is that it isnt costly to find this out :D clive It was you that pointed me towards the Fusion for head shaving, so if you can't re...

Re: tapatalk and shave my face

I'm going to take this up with Vince. I see Tapatalk almost everywhere now. (I have a smartphone, I rooted it and made it a developer phone, I'm something of a phone geek, but I've never bothered with Tapatalk. Any time a site directs me to its mobile version I get frustrated very rapidly and go els...

Re: Another One of "Those" Articles - DE v Cartridge v Strai

I agree - anything that has the reader questioning his choice of equipment, and specifically the price he pays, is good in my book. Needing to use a new DE blade each shave seems extreme to me though. I use a DE blade (Israeli Personna, usually) for a week and then chuck it, even though I could get ...

Re: New Mouse

Logitech m570 here too. I have yet to find a mouse that feels comfortable in my hands, most mice seem to be designed for a grip much smaller than mine. I think it's a combination of large hands and the way I actually grip the mouse. I use a mouse when I work, and I also like the trackball's ability ...

Re: 100ml of Skin Food, nine months later.

Aah, the days of free samples. That sample pack looks to be eight quid now. On our recent trip to Iceland/Scotland/England I just decided to check my bag. This kind of made my extensive research into what to take in a tiny carry-on version of a dopp kit enjoyable, yet futile. I took a 100ml bottle o...

Re: an orgy of questions

I am personally curious about the shaving habits of SMF members so I am tossing out a number of random questions off the top of my head. This is not a survey for anyone but I thought some of us might be interested in how SMF members answer them ... if members do respond. So, answer any of them you ...

Re: 100ml of Skin Food, nine months later.

Well, a quick update on this. The 200ml bottle lasted much longer than I anticipated, in fact until today, which is over two years. I suppose one reason it lasted well was that I didn't take it on any flights, due to it being too big for carry-on, but that accounts for a measly 35 or so out of the l...

Re: Back to Jolly 'Ole

We're heading back to the homeland this summer as well. We've decided to go via Iceland this time, to spend a little time on black beaches and in hot springs. Depending on how the fixture list works out, I think we managed to time the trip to be able to take in a Premier League match (maybe even a S...

Re: "KIK" MESSAGING:

As far as I know, it would be a tougher task to seek out a smartphone that wouldn't be able to run Kik messenger. The main thing to bear in mind, though, is that third party messaging apps like Kik, Whatsapp et al use your data plan (or wi-fi) to send and receive messages, rather than your minutes/m...

Re: Got a new smart phone today

I did prefer the HTC One (8) over the Samsung Galaxy 5 as far as look and feel. There was an LG Iiked but it was all plastic One of the appealing aspects of the HTC One, to me, was the fact that it's designed with that appearance of being hewn out of a solid block of metal. There's some speculation...
