Jim, I have the Sandalwood aftershave from D.R. Harris and it's very high quality indeed and very potent. It lasts all day on me. It works excellently for one who likes and can tolerate alcohol based aftershaves.

Will do, Gordon.

Yes they are very nice soaps and one of my alternate choices every now and then. I figure with everything else changing I was curious if these had too. I hope not.

D.R. Harris Bath Soap

Has anyone recently bought some of this? And if so, are these bath soaps still tallow based? I've got several bars from a few years ago that are tallow based and I'm just wondering if this is still the case.

I just started using the English made Yardley Lavender a few days ago. I must say that this soap is the pinnacle of the great soaps that I have tried thus far. Even better than <gulp> Mitchell's Wool Fat. Great abundant creamy lather, great scent and gentle on the skin (I've been using to to wash m...

I shaved this morning with the Trumper's Rose and to my nose there is no change from the previous versions of the cream I've obtained. I have a slight cold but I can still smell very good and it smells same to me at this moment. Just comparing the two side be side in their containers they smell the ...

Chris, How recently made is the pot that you are getting, do you know? Regards, Gordon Gordon, I confess I don't know but I'm getting it from ShopLondons so it may be a tad old. I ordered it Wednesday and it's here today. To my nose it's no different than what I have, which is at least three years ...

A pot of rose is on the way as I am just about out of Trumpers Rose (a tad bit remaining). I'm going to settle this for myself. I'll let you know my thoughts.

These are the tallow based US made supermarket fair Yardley soaps. They are better than most soaps on the supermarket shelf IMHO and they are very mild on the skin. The lather is ok too, but Floris it ain't. I was raised on this stuff and for the money it's a very good soap. We are currently using i...

I've sworn I would only use creams because...well, just because I'll never use up what I have and, by God, enough is enough. But with this and all the concurrent soap threads going on, there is some hidden beast deep within commanding me to release the hounds. Please make it stop. Smithers, release...

Michael, I agree with that your post on your blog. As a younger man I was faced with the kinds of choices that force the recognition of such expenditures. I learned very early on about value and about having things that last. My straight razor was a part of that philosophy until I was well off enoug...

Chris, I suspect Illinois (Fromm now day) reveresed the leather to create more friction (draw) in order to make it feel like the vintage Russian leather strops. . . . Tony Tony, my very first strop was called "Medal of Award", I purchased it at a Barber supply back in the 80's. It was alm...

Well the Illinois 827 'linen', followed by its leather, followed by a few very light strokes on the Jemico red russian gave an excellent shave! None of the Feather-like rawness, and very close. I won't say (as a junior member on SRP did some years ago, that going once with the grain was as good as ...

Vic, I agree. I think a simple but elegant approach to packaging is more tasteful. The quality that a product possesses will imbue whatever simple packaging it has with a deeper meaning.
