I use shower spray daily: the spray it and go stuff. I notice more of a difference when I use a cheaper brand of that than when I switched from shower gel to bar soap. Besides, not having to apply lotion constantly in winter is a fine trade-off for occasional extra scrubbing of the shower stall. Re...

Personnally, I prefer to use bar soaps; why? Because shower gels / body washes require multiple squirtings for different body parts (I have hard water, so I can't get enough lather out of 1 squirting for the whole body). Of course, I could use poof/shower thingies to produce tons of lather, but I do...

I've currently got the white and the red and if like me you find the green a bit too much then go with the white. FWIW I think the white is the best Proraso available and is well worth the admission price. I too have the White Soap and the Red Cream. I use them together sometimes for SUPERLATHER. S...

Re: What is the purpose of after shave?
Aqua Velva has glycerin, but it still dries my skin out. The NIvea Replenishing Balm has alcohol and is drying for me Even the Proraso Liquid Balm, which is alcohol-free, is drying for me, because of the Witch Hazel  Eventually try the Weleda aftershave. I have a friend with a very sensitive...

Re: What is the purpose of after shave?
Alum is used in alot of developing countries (both for shaving, and as a deodorant) and was traditional in barbering. It's cheap, for one thing. It also does stop bleeding and does draw moisture of the skin- good for razor burn. Alcohol does much the same thing but also tends to be very painful on ...

Re: The opinion on shaving oil
This is why I use them mostly in winterMagnulus wrote:I've had some luck with them. Kingh of Shaves, or using my own preparation of jojoba and lanolin. It isn't something I'd call necessary, though, but it is good if you have sensitive or dried skin.

I just tried the moisturizing flavor this morning. Excellent lather, pleasant scent (lightly outdoorsy and citrusy), top-notch shave. Finally, high quality shave cream available right in my neighborhood! I'll have to give the sensitive cream a sniff next time I'm at Rite-Aid. All the comments about...

rafikz -- what razor do you use to shave with the Edge and what's the effect? I tried using Merkur on canned cream but I need to let the cream settle long enough to prevent drag. Canned creams dry out and off whereas I can always reapply with a brush using traditional creams/soaps. I use a M3; I fi...

Well, we started commenting on Edge gels. Then we moved to pecan pie and dog poop. Of course, the requisite gravity discussion and a martini analogy to tie it all together. Get more education here in a few posts than anywhere else. I'm sorry, but if you are going to consider the goo called E...
