New brush......kent T12. It lost a lot of bristles first time out......and I was usuing a soap, not a cream, but I guess it just takes time getting used to.

Christian I'm going to take your advice which I assume stands for all new brushes. I just used a brand new Kent and it wasn't too pleasant. I couldn't get a decent lather going, the thing malted like a Newf in summer, and I was surprised by the size of it, given that I'm used to a small Floris. Hope...

Well, the first shave with the tabac went really well. I really like the scent and the shave was more comfortable than with the usual taylors. Next experiment is T&H cream

I should have had this conversation yesterday since what is another item on an already long order list? I'll have to remember for next time :)

off Topic: It would be great if places like Classic Shaving had a wish list ala Amazon

Scott

Thanks for your sharing your thoughts. I'm definitely going to keep it to use shaving my head. A new tube of T&H is on the way, but if it feels like prosaro in that I can't feel/hear the blade I'll be a permanent soap man.

Michael's post inspired me to buy the same......Merkur "Hefty Classic - Slant Bar and a stack of feather blades.

I've been ER free since I started about 2 months ago using the Merkur blades. Hopefully the tradition continues. Joe's detailed descriptions should certainly help :)

It doesn't have that strong, zesty lime that I was expecting

Is the T&H better, because that's what I'm planning to buy?

Glad I haven't hit the order button yet. Your point about the first time makes really good sense. Tube it is then :?

If the tub is more economical, then tub it shall be.

Many thanks for taking the time to answer my question.

Tub or Tube?

I'm on the verge of ordering my very first cream (the proraso doesn't count :D ) , but I'm not sure if I should buy the tub or the tube version. Is it generally just a personal preference or is there a difference between the two?

Thanks

WTB: Shaving cream

Trumpers, T&H, or Taylors.

I'm interested in trying some of these creams, so if you have a tube that isn't empty  and would like to sell the remains, I'd be very interested in buying it from you.

You can tell if you've shaved too close because your face drops off the following Tuesday.     ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ A weekend test for this might be to shave a single N/S pass and see if the resulting stubble is pricklier than normal for a Merkur bl...

Do you put boiling water in that, or do you just use regular tap water?

Gentlemen

Thanks so much for your input. I'm going to see if I can trade the Prosaro for something else, If not I'll buy a tube at classic. I need blades anyway.

Do all creams feel like Proraso?

Putting on my super sleuth hat I managed to find the spa section at Target and bought myself a tube of Proraso cream. A much thicker lather than I usually get with my Taylors soap, but it made my face feel as though it was slightly numb. Do all creams do this? I also thought that I put more pressure...

A stupid newbie question. Why do you have proraso in a tube and in a jar? And another: How long does it take you everyday to decide what to use?

Plus, for extra passes, you have lather right there in the bowl if you need to go back for more. Shortly after joining this forum I went from lathering on my face to lathering in a bowl and it is much better. But, the notion of more if you need it doesn't work at all for me. Each pass I re lather b...
