Re: What are you reading?

Currently getting caught up on my periodicals so that I can start my next book. My reading time is very limited with all that I do. I don't have enough time in retirement. My next book is "Left of Bang". What put me behind on mag's were 2 books by Selco Begovic regarding his 1st hand accou...

Re: Face masks

The virus can fall out of the air and into the eyes. From the eyes there is a passage to the nose and throat. So if a face mask is used it needs to have a barrier of some sort that prevents cooties from falling from above. Cloth masks aren't so much for the wearer but for other folks. Fauchi (sp?) n...

Re: Astronomy Anyone??

Lots of eye Drs might not follow that either, IDK. I mentioned it on another forum MANY years ago and an eye Dr to be came back and stated that I knew more about the eye than he did, at least as far as that. He had to research it. But advanced amateur astronomers know how to do it with practice. No ...

Re: Astronomy Anyone??

A dobsonian light bucket would make for very good viewing and not cost an arm and a leg. You can make your own too. I haven't looked in to it, but you might even be able to purchase finished mirrors. That way you'd build the housing and the formica "bearings". They have no drives so all of...

Re: Astronomy Anyone??

Wendell I started with 10x50s and it's amazing what can be seen from a dark sky site with just binoculars. At one time my present location was a really good dark sky site and I made good use of it. I had a Terrence Dickenson book Equinox (?) at least I think that's what it's name was. Excellent book...

Re: Guns

Sam, you and your wife are one of many. I knew it started bigtime in March with C19. I had called my small local gun shop looking for a specific .22 cartridge and was told that they didn't have any in stock and were selling over 20k rounds per week. At that time I knew people were getting serious. M...

Re: Guns

Sam, if you put the foam plugs in correctly they not only won't come out on their own, but you might need a tweezer to remove them. Ok, that last might be an exaggeration, but fingernails are a definite asset. It's very difficult to fins better hearing protection than good foam plugs if they're inst...

Re: Guns

Sam, I'm so deep into firearm culture and have been for ~60 years now, you wouldn't believe it if I told you all of it. I'm an NRA certified instructor, CCW permit holder for >30 years, shoot competition and regularly make hits that I've been told are impossible to make by folks who think they know ...

Re: NS shooter

I found it interesting that the US consulate (am I getting that right?) alerted their people hours before the Canadian "powers that be" decided to do the same. Or so I heard from a gent in western Canada. He's following it, I'm not. Here in Maine, not far away it's no longer news worthy fo...

Re: NS shooter

We are not presently in dire circumstances, it's over. We can afford to be more precise at this time so as not to cast aspersions on innocent folks, many of whom are societies watchdogs. People ultimately have what they want even if they never foresaw what the end result of the actions would be. I w...

Re: NS shooter

FWIW, he was NOT a shooter. He was a murderer. I'm a shooter and I compete in the warmer months along with many tens of thousands of other shooters around the planet. Hunters are also shooters and there are millions of those. No, the gent in question may have misused a tool, but he was definitely no...

Re: Joke of the Day

Good belly laugh at that!

I've been known to ask the wife what she wants for her b'day months in advance so that she tells me when it is. I know it's sometime in June, but the date always escapes me. Names too. Names escape me.

Re: Speak to me about Rotation

I mostly use SE razors and the blades last a very long time. So I use one blade and if I change razors that blade gets swapped. They come with a cardboard wrapper and I use that to tally each shave when I put the razor away. I have razors to rotate, but I've pretty much settled on the MicroMatic Clo...
