I started out using ivory wih a squirt or two of Dr Bronners Liquid Soap. It worked fine for me. I got no nicks. That was a whole lot better than my Colgate Canned Goo.

I used to use the Mach 3 sometimes insead of my injector. I thought the cartridges were easier to find. But it was $10-$13 for a 4 pack of blades. I would use them when going on vacation. I would worry everytime used them because of the high expenditure. The shaves were good; but who can afford the ...

I use a sink of water.

All of the genuine injectors should give nice shaves. I have two with black plastic handles that serve me well. I bought them new in the 80's and 90's.

The black plastic handles should sell in the $10-$15 range. The other models with different handles and / or gold finish will sell for more.

I find that sipping a warm beverage helps. i said sipping not gulping. Drink it real slow; and swish it around your mouth.

Also, keeping the window open on a cool night.

DE for most of my face; injector for above and below my lips. I feel that I have a little more control with the injector.
