Re: Do Soaps Rinse Cleaner Than Creams?

My only experience with creams has been with Proraso and The Body Shop. Mostly, I use soaps. I've noticed, that when I use my creams, there is more soap film left on my razor and in the sink than when I use soaps. No matter how thoroughly I rinse my brush, it always seems a little stiffer when it h...

Aaron, I've had pretty much the same experience. I started moving this direction after reading some post of Brett's about it and really got it perfected after watching Zach's video. My lather is leagues above what it used to be. I find the only difference between boar and badger here is that with b...

Agreed, and I don't think this method would really work with creams. I'm sure what brush you use makes a big difference as well.

Lathering soap: wet brush vs dry brush?

It seems that generally, the preferred method of lathering soap is to squeeze/shake almost all the water out of the brush, make kind of a paste from the soap and then add water to make lather. Before I starting reading the various shaving forums (say a year and a half ago), I used a cheap Col Conk p...

Hey Aaron, welcome aboard. My guess would be glycerin soaps are more popular now than before if for no other reason we have a much greater selection than we had just a few years ago. Thanks, Squire. I'm sure you are right over the long term, since I would think that there are more people making han...

I didn't want to bump a 5 year old post, but I found it interesting that in the review that Dr. Moss linked to above he says "The notable thing about Tabac is that despite it being a tallow soap , it does provide the lubrication needed for a comfortable and close shave [emphasis added]". G...
