I'm sorry that you're having such trouble finding a rose scent that suits you, Sam. You've been at this for quite a while now, correct? It would be interesting to see a list of what you've tried so far. There is something in the scent of roses that you enjoy. Yet, you haven't found a rose men's colo...

Frankly, I use most scents in the aftershave strength. I find that most aftershaves from Trumper's, Penhaligons, TOBS, etc., are fine in that strength. In fact, I think the only cologne strength fragrances I still use are Trumper's Ajaccio Violets, Taylor's no.74 Victorian Limes, and Caswell-Massey'...

Sam, have you tried Penhaligon's Hammam Bouquet, or is that off your list? I very much enjoy the scent. My wife puts up with it.

Pour the single malt into a shot glass, then depth-charge it into a frosty cold mug o' beer. Mmm.

Actually, like some of the others, I use a small snifter when I really want to fully enjoy a scotch. I also add a little water to bring out the aromas.

I have an Omega synthetic brush. While it's nice for travel, it is not the equal of a badger brush, or even a boar brush. Still, it's serviceable. Of course, the synthetics aren't doing much good for the natural world, either, so weigh that in when making your decision.

I, too, have a Raleigh, although mine is only about 45 years old. It's a lovely bike. My other bike is a Schwinn World Voyageur, but it's only 35 years old. I, too, have been thinking about getting a modern bicycle, so I'll be interested in watching this thread develop.

I just rescued a bunch of my comic books from my parents' house last weekend. Most date from the early '70s, although some are from the late '60s. I, too, am wondering if they are worth selling. I may have to go to a comics shop and check out the retail prices.

It is not uncommon for men with very dark hair to have this "green" effect, especially if they have a Mediterranean skin tone. Some guys use talc to cover it. My advice is to just get used to it, however, since it is a natural occurrence. If you use the Search function, I think you'll find...

I'm not a huge fan of either cologne, frankly. Of the two, I prefer Newport, and I prefer the old Newport to the new. Greenbriar is an OK scent, if you like that sort of thing. I wasn't aware that it had been reformulated, though. Certainly, the old formulation smelled pretty modern to me, so I'm no...

Greetings, Joe, and welcome to SMF. I have a couple of comments. First, although I, too, believe in "waste not want not", I suggest you set aside the pre-shave oil for now. By reducing the variables involved, you'll be able to pinpoint your problem quicker. The oil obviously isn't preventi...

My two pots of "new" Trumper's violet still smell awful. Furthermore, they don't lather as well as my older pots of Trumper's creams. I'm sticking to Taylor's for now. If, in a year or so, someone who is knowledgeable concerning the old Trumper's violet tells me that they just bought a new...

Sam, my feelings on "anti-bump" products are pretty much the same as "anti-nick" products. If you're getting enough ingrowns or nicks to justify the purchase of a specialty product, there is most likely a problem with your technique. Solving that technique problem should be your ...
