The extra time required has put some pressure on my morning routine, but I still stick to the DE. I go for BBS every time. I used the Sensor for many years and it works great for me - quick, BBS, no irritation. However, prices keep creeping up and it seems that Gillette is slowly phasing out the Sen...

I'm learning on a Tech
I"ve been using a Tech to learn for about two months now. Combined with a Derby blade, it's really helping me to get great shaves while getting the feel of a real DE razor. I've tried the Weishi, but it's too gentle for me. I found myself wanting to bear down into my skin, which is a big no-no....

Newbie's experience with Tech and Weishi
Welcome aboard! I'm very new to proper DE shaving, about two months in now. Short answer - try a Tech or a Super Speed (standard or blue tip, which is made to be a gentle shaver). Long answer: My suggestion is to avoid adjustables for now - for a newbie, the simplest setup with the fewest variables ...

Star and Rose?
I work in NYC and while Christmas shopping last December, I came across Star and Rose shaving soap sticks - similar to Arko in appearance. They were only $1 each, so I picked up three on impulse. I still have not tried one yet, but I was wondering if anyone here (Aussies?) is familiar with this bran...

Opinions on SuperMax blades?
I just got a '57 Super Speed that came with a new pack of SuperMax blades. I haven't seen anything posted on these blades. Do any of you have experience with them? If so, how do you like them?

OK to boil adjustables?
I have Fat and Slim adjustables. Before I start going at them to clean and disinfect, I want to know if boiling will harm them - BTW, they are NOT gold. Thanks.

I got into proper DE shaving a couple of months ago. So far, I'm using only the Tech and I'm really impressed with it. If you think the HD is a bit too much, you'll probably like the Tech a lot. I'm going to put off my HD purchase for now, since I don't think I need anything much more aggressive tha...

How long does it take you to shave?
I saw the post about research that Schick did on the nunber of strokes it took for men to shave.
I'm wondering how long it takes you to shave, not including the prep time. Once you put steel to skin, how many minutes does it take?

I'm pretty new to proper DE shaving. The general advice is to stay away from adjustables until you get a fair amount of experience. Many here will recommend a Gillette Tech, which is a gentle razor, good for newbies. That's what I'm using and it's very forgiving for a new DE user. Also good for thos...

My newbie setup
Thanks to everyone who replied to my questions about Techs and Super Speeds yesterday. Now I'll share details on my setup. As I mentioned, I have a '57 Tech that came unused from my father's medicine cabinet (he used mostly electrics over the years). From this forum, I learned that I have a good sta...

Best period for Super Speeds?
If you read my other question about Techs, I'm wondering the same about Super Speeds. I've been snatching up a few on the bay and I noticed that there's a slight difference between the '57 SS and the '64 SS. The '64 feels a bit lighter to me. I haven't started shaving with these yet, still working o...

Best period for Techs?
I'm a newbie here. I've visited DE shaving several times before, but only with the help of this forum have I had any success, so thank you all for sharing your tips, information, advice, etc. I am lucky enough to have discovered an unused '57 tech in my father's medicine cabnet after he passed away ...
