Hard Soaps vs Creams

Having used mostly creams for the past year or so, I decided to try some hard soaps for variety. With Christmas coming, I ordered a few to try from some various suppliers - this is the 3 soaps I'm starting with: Trumpers Lime (Lee's) AOS Sandalwood (AOS Shop in LA) Tabac (QED) 2 questions for the sh...

It's a long shot, but I'll take a Sandalwood if you can get it!

thanks ... Steve

Merkur Progress
Merker Blade

I find the Nivea and Ferrari mix very well together.

My Progress fully tightened has the dot above "1". I use it at 2.5 and don't change it. I really like that razor, too: love the chunky feel. Mine bottoms out just past the "1" also. For me, using it at a 3 setting seems about perfect for the face area, but dialing back to a 2.5 ...

Just checked by T&H brush (aka Vulfix) - no plug even down below the entry point into the handle. You can feel the hairs coming together at that point, but there is no hard plug as far as I can tell.

I tried to get Lee by email and phone - haven't heard from him yet.. Lee's blackberry must have a dead battery. He replies to my emails almost instantly, if not faster. Greg I think he is experiencing some email issues. Just talked to him on the phone, great guy - knowledgeable and helpful. For the...

I tried to get Lee by email and phone - haven't heard from him yet. Also found a place in Vancouver that sells Plisson Brushes. Might have to try one or 2 of those, just for fun. :) Any comments on the Plisson grades of hair? Is the black badger worth trying at all? I read somewhere on this forum th...

Gordon, I'm referring the fact that a tied knot that has just a little glue holding it in the handle doesn't hold onto its individual hairs (especially in the centre of the knot) as well as one that has the whole base - each hair - soaked in epoxy resin. If Simpson would make their brushes the way ...

snip Well, I have a Finest, medium, but with the Style 1 handle, and it is an excellent brush, no doubt about that. But as far as something very similiar yes; both Peter ( 'drP' ) and I agree that the higher end Simpson Best models are very similiar to the Rooney Finests. The bristle doesn't look a...

I soak my brush in HOT water for about a minute. This warms up the bowl and allows the brush to absorb as much water as possible. A quick shake, and on to the cream. Don't think that soaking longer has any value at all.

Welcome to SMF. Well, before we get too deeply into this, I'd like to hear a little more about that 'horn' handled T&H number that you have. Here's why. Most of the T&H brushes are made by Vulfix, and yeah, Vulfix does offer some faux horn handled models now, but I wasn't aware that any of ...

How well do you like the Rooney that you have now? The G.B.Kent BK4 is a very nice premium brush at a reasonable price. The Simpsons Tulip 2 certainly has some fans (I don't have one). I really like my Rooney Style 2 Finest, but even the Rooney Style 2 Super was exceptionally nice. I like the Roone...

First Premium Brush

OK - I have done a lot of reading on this board, and got a lot of ideas. Currently have 2 brushes, a T&H horn brush (not sure who makes this one) and a Rooney, Style 1 medium silvertip. Now, I am looking to try a real "premium" brush and there seems to be many options. Rooney finest, S...
