Re: new razor relaeases
Trim packages, decals, and wild new colors have long been a staple of the Detroit3 auto makers. A cheap way of juicing up a few extra sales. That hasn't stopped the market share for all three of them from dwindling to less than half the total market. Another advantage of plastic razors is that they ...

Re: Why Synthetic?
I have two pure badger brushes sitting on a back shelf that I've tried, and was not all that impressed with. If I had to live with one brush, it would be an Omega S-Brush, my most recent acquisition. It's great for face lathering creams in travel mode, with great drying properties. For what soaps I ...

Both the Asco orange, and the Asco reds that I struggled through with, came in 5-packs
See Squire's review of the Asco reds.
As always with blades, YMMV.

Re: Interesting Article on Above The Tie and Stan Hickam
At today's prices, Gillette has definitely left an opening in the market for cheaper competition. My first wet shaves were with a Gillette Travel Tech, but that was when the Wilkinson Bonded razor was hitting the market, then the Trac II, then the Atra...

Re: Most "Reliable" Vintage DE's?
My 1963 Gillette Slim was still quite reliable until I dropped it. Fortunately another member here took it off my hands for a nominal sum, and was able to rehabilitate it. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I took out a Lord Smart Razor that I had put away, and discovered I liked it better. The blade ang...

Re: Jabon de Guillermo (William) mug soap
Your beard must really grow fast, and you must shave at least twice a day. I haven't used nearly that many tubs/tubes/pucks/sticks since I got in to this "hobby" in 2008. That includes a couple of pressurized cans of Old Spice.

Well said, Squire, but just to add my $0.02 worth, I recently tried one of the Lord Platinum class blades that came with my Lord L.125 razor. One was enough, and I put them away, no comparison to the Shark SS blades I have been using. I have received and tried most of the Lord brands & models, r...

Re: Does more aggressive equal a closer shave?
Early Saturday morning I did a quick 2-pass touch up after shaving late Friday afternoon. I used a Bic single blade disposable to minimize irritation and a good quality (Godrej) lather. I was amazed how that close touch-up lasted during the day while on a 400 mile round trip to another state to help...

Re: Why Synthetic?
IMHO the Omega S-Brush is far better than a Syntex for travel mode, much kinder to the skin for face lathering. I tried a Syntex with the same handle as my current S-Brush and put it away. Not happy with face lathering results, and there is a world of difference with the S-Brush. In travel mode I fa...

Re: Take heart my friends, it could be worse!
The ceiling light fixture in my kitchen has been acting erratically in recent years, especially in the colder winter temps, after 20-25 years service. This summer the light became very noticeably dimmer, so I replaced the circline flourescent tube. When it worked, it was much brighter, but ever more...

Finally saw the video. Watching a front loading automatic washer in action could be better than watching TV, then or now, for some.

Re: Take heart my friends, it could be worse!
Didn't see it, nor could I bring up the video. At a bridge party I attended today, one woman who had seen it was telling everybody at each of the three tables about it. Hosted by Bill Geist, of course. He did a segment a while back about people who collected toasters, even toaster conventions. Easie...
