Re: What Did You Hone Today?
A quick update that I did try the following progression: Shapton 1K, 4K, 8K, UF. This was on one of my TI's. It's a bit of a challenge to hone this blade because it's slightly warped and I was just doing a quick honing. Wouldn't shave. I'll try repeating with another blade and see what that does. Ch...

Just to update I haven't had a chance to hone anything. Been busy lately. I'll get to it eventually.

Re: What Did You Hone Today?
Most excellent! I'll be looking forward to the results.
As an aside, I have lapped my UF and I'm ready to give it a whirl. I'll probably lap my Shaptons first as well.
If I find time to do all this I'll report back my impressions.

I only use mine to staunch the occasional pinhole bloodspot. As such, it will outlast me.

This looks like the new formula where they've abandoned the almond oil (dulcis prunis). I am very intrigued to try it as I believe that I am sensitive to almond oil.
Use it in good health, Gary.

Re: Kanayama Cordovan Strop workshop video
So I've been thinking about this a while and it hit me that my magic strop is glass smooth though I usually don't really think of it that way. I could swear it's treated though, maybe with something like the Dovo black crayon. It was done a long time ago, as in decades ago since I bought this strop ...

Dr. Moss,
For the coticule finished blades that get better with extensive stropping. Are you using the red Jemico or the new strop with the glass finish?

Re: Judge Ware
Love Le Creuset! They are heavy though. We got a braiser and a dutch oven for our wedding 18 years ago and they get a ton of use despite being heavy. In the last year I got one of those red laser thermometers that you take the temperature of the pot or pan your working with. The Le Creusets are dead...

Re: SOTD December 7 - December 13, 2020
This will be today's combination; at least we know the Mappin & Webb will be good, as will the Crown Perfumery Eau de Quinine. I have never had any love for Provence Santé soap, but maybe the super soft and fine bristles of the Ostrich brush will wake it up. It will still stink, though! SOTD081...

Gary, wonderful story. I hope you get many years of excellent service out of them. I take it the title of this thread is the name of the brand: "Judge Ware"? Doing a google search for them seems like they are enamel covered cookware? Reminds me very much of some the pots my mother had - an...

AOS Ocean Kelp Cream
Recently made a trip to the local Homegoods/Marshalls around here and picked up the Art of Shaving's Ocean Kelp shaving cream and gave it a whirl. I have to say I am very pleased with the performance of this cream. It whipped up a thick protective and slick lather that worked very well to provide a ...

Re: The Lockdown Razor Cut
Looks like you did a pretty decent job as it looks very presentable. In fact it looks rather good even if it's just with a razor comb. I still have my father's razor comb (I'm sure I've mentioned this here) from when I was a kid in the 1970's. Still has the same blade he used in it - a stainless DE ...
