Dollar General DE Blades made in Vietnam

I acquired some of these which were 5 for a dollar. They come in a blade dispenser that looks a lot like American Personnas. However, these are rumored to be made by Dorco according to other shaving forums. I was not expecting much, but I popped one in my Above The Tie R1, and got a damn fine shave....

Re: Italian Barber Tech Clone

I think that the handle leaves a lot to be desired. The head has interesting design elements. I found it to be very smooth and efficient. I wouldn't want it any more aggressive or more mild. I think of the Teck II as a poor man's Feather AS-D2. I'll be interested in your thoughts on the Quick Change...

Re: Gillette Platinum-Plus blade from Brazil

Today's shave with the Rockwell 6s (R4) was much better for my third use of the Brazilian Blade. I can see why it is well regarded. I was just stymied by the dark art of razor/ blade combination, and my Above The Tie R1 is a jealous mistress that only desires Polsilver SI's so far. I am going to kee...

Re: Gillette Platinum-Plus blade from Brazil

Well my second use with the Gillette Plats from Brazil left me unimpressed. I went with my Rockwell 6s with the R3 Baseplate which works well with Feathers. I thought that it would tone down the extreme sharpness that I experienced yesterday in the ATT R1 which it did. However, two passes left me wi...

Re: Gillette Platinum-Plus blade from Brazil

I stumbled across a 9 pack of these at our only K-Mart left in town. I paid $4.29 plus tax. I put one in my Above The Tie R1. It gave me a scary close shave with two weepers. I would classify this as a very sharp blade, and it reminds me of Gillette SharpEdge Yellow Pack in that respect. For shave n...

Re: Italian Barber Tech Clone

Today was my third use of the Italian Barber Razorock Teck II with the original Polsilver SI Blade that I put in it from the get go. I had a 30 hour stubble, and I used J.M. Fraser's Original and a Kent Silvertex Synthetic Brush which is a great little brush. The razor did really well, and I've dial...

Re: Italian Barber Tech Clone

Well, I had my second shave with the Razorock Teck II this AM. I lathered up with J.M. Fraser's Original and my Fine 20mm Angel Hair Synthetic Brush. The razor performed flawlessly on my 24 hour stubble. The head puts quite a curve on the blade compared to any Gillette Tech that I've seen. It naviga...

Re: Italian Barber Tech Clone

Well I had a go with the Razorock Teck II with my favorite blade, a Polsivler SI. I used a Razorock 22mm Synthetic Brush and their P.160 Soft Italian Shaving Soap which is very similar to Cella with a lighter scent. The Teck II head looks somewhat reminiscent of a later Gillette Tech, but this is a ...

Re: Italian Barber Tech Clone

Wow that's a great price! I've received mine, and I will shave with it tomorrow AM. The handle is nice, and reminds me of an EJ Chatsworth. The head looks like it has great quality control and is nicely plated in chrome.

Interesting. I didn't think carbon steel blades were made anymore after the Treet Black Beauties went out of production. Let us know how they perform

Re: Italian Barber Tech Clone

I went for the same offer. My order shipped yesterday. I chose the Razorock P.160 soap. The Teck looks like it will be a nice razor that covers the blade tabs on the ends. There are so many new razors coming out, it's hard for my wallet to keep up with them. It really is the golden age of wet shaving!

Re: Omega Shave Soap

The ingredients look really nice. I am a big fan of Cella. I'll have to try this one, as the price is right. I try to avoid products that have really long ingredient lists, and this one seems spot on. With Cella, I lather in a mug, and it really works great. I use it, and J.M. Fraser's Original Crea...

Re: Found at an estate sale

That's an interesting perspective, Gary. They really are "dead men's razors." LOL. We had a ghost experience in the house in 2008 that I attribute to a razor that I brought home. Our Alpha Male Cat was freaked out all over the house, and he doesn't scare easily. However, I really enjoy cle...

Above The Tie M1 vs R1

I couldn't leave well enough alone after acquiring a Above The Tie M1 Head, so I went ahead and acquired the R1 Base Plate. The M1 has delivered mild, but smooth BBS shaves with Polsivler S.I. and Feather Blades. For my first go with the R1, I decided to go with a mild blade. I went with a Personna ...

Re: Gillette Guard vs. Bic Normal for travel

I'm a fan of the Gillette Guard, but I can't quite get to BBS with it. I get a very socially acceptable shave out of it. It is an interesting piece of shaving technology with the open comb, single blade, and pivoting head. Apparently, one of the design criteria was its ease of rinsing, as there isn'...

Gillette Guard vs. Bic Normal for travel

Today, I was short on time, so instead of using my ATT M1, I reached for a Gillette Guard. I used Trader Joe's Honey Mango Brushless Shave Cream which is a great value and provided a lot of lubricity yet wipes off clean with a wash cloth. The Gillette Guard delivers an acceptable shave, but not quit...

Above The Tie M1

I acquired an Above The Tie M1 Razor which is the mild safety bar. I've shaved with it four times using a couple of Polsilver Super Iridium Blades. It is beautifully machined out of stainless. It shaves very smoothly, and it is easy to find the blade angle. It is on the mild side, but causes me no i...

iKon B1 Open Comb

I ordered an iKon B1 Open Comb Head, from Phil at Bullgoose Shaving Supplies, A-la-Carte to put on an extra Ikon Bulldog Handle that I had from my only other Ikon product, the excellent Shavecraft 101 which I had paired with a different handle. The black Ikon B1 Open Comb looks great on the stainles...

Re: Eclipse Red Ring Razor

Gary, it sounds like you are really enjoying this hobby! I've been enjoying your posts. The Eclipse Red Ring is a beautiful razor. I wish someone would do a reproduction of it, but that would make too much sense. I have the Ikon Shavecraft razor, and I love it. I was glad that Greg finally added an ...

Re: Current Production TTOs

I'm a fan of the Feather Popular TTO that retails for around $20 online. It works best with sharp blades from the same brand.
