Big Ren's thoughtful reply to a post I made in goofy Friday night fun got me going. Here's what the two brushes look like: http://www.numoonus.com/Stuff/Brushes/Beside1.jpg I appreciated Big Ren's sense of tradition, so I did a test using Proraso cream in the green tube. A quick whip in the bowl wit...

Time for some fun at another's expense

My 2 week old AOS brush has turned out to be a shedder: 10 full bristles every day, plus lots of little end pieces. Jim at AOS/Las Vegas says he'll replace it, no questions asked. Today I went to a Target and a Longs Drugstore to look for a brush to use in the meantime. I selected: 1) a Proraso Prof...

Welcome! I may not be seasoned yet, but since I switched from a Mach 3, at least I'm not tenderized. \:D/ Yes, AOS is pricier than it should be, but it's nice sometimes to shop brick-&-mortar. Your skin might like their Unscented Hypoallergenic or Lavender creams, and you wouldn't pay any shippi...

Thanks, Rich. I had wondered if the scents could break down, but it seems like that didn't happen, at least in this instance.

Maybe a deal on Coate's at KnoxCigar.com, maybe not

This sounds a little weird, but they're selling dehydrated tubs of Coate's Tea Tree cream for 10USD. Here's what they say on their website: There are only a limited number of these Coate's Shave Cream Tubs available at this price. The reason they are priced so low is that they have lost most of thei...

And the hits just keep on comin'

A package from Cigar Dan arrived yesterday, containing a '68 Gillette skinny adjustable, some Israeli blades, and several cream samples. What a cool machine the razor is! It's lighter than I expected, with an intricately machined handle, polished head, and blade doors that open like the space shuttl...

Shaving on the weekends......well this must be an enjoyable experience for that. Right now I hate shaving because it just plain hurts when I have to do it every other day. Today's Saturday, and I literally scared my wife by shaving today. She's never seen that before, until I started using good sha...

Scarface,

Nice Photochop (http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e125/ ... edcopy.jpg).

One hopes milady hasn't used that on her legs. Still, one day I shall become a Knight of the Round Tub!

BTW, MindSpin, as a drummer I like your avatar, but that full beard really stands out. So what do you... or I mean, where do you... no, wait, that's okay, never mind

My adjustment period for this razor was about five days.
JimT, would you pin down what this five days of adjustment was like? Are we talking five days with an extra drop of moisturizer, or five days of steak tartar, or what?

Cigar Dan-

Your generosity will help me move forward really quickly, and I appreciate it. So my timeline was only off by, um, 100 weeks...

Man, what a great way to get my first DE! Wait, my "first" DE? Ohmygod, is this how it starts?

I could go to an antique shop and look for a razor, but at this point, I couldn't tell a good razor from a fillet knife. When some one knowledgeable like Cigar Dan steps up and sends you a trustworthy razor, that's absolutely priceless. It will be a real pleasure to do that for somebody else someday...

Hi Gramps-

If in two years I'm shaving with a KNIFE, I'll send you a tub of your favorite cream... :D

Best,

Another newbie finds religion!

Hello from a newbie! I have now lathered-up a grand total of 9 times, and I want to thank all of you who've posted advice. I sure didn't plan on becoming a wet shaver, but now that I am, I'm really happy with the new morning ritual. Last week I flew to Las Vegas on a business trip. The first morning...
