I must be living right.

It's Christmas time and the cat's outta the bag. Dear wife Deb just informed me as to what I am getting for Christmas. Normally we wait and surprise each other but this year we are doing things a bit differently. Apparently ol' Deb has been listening. LOL. Here are the important parts: Kent BK4 brus...

Re: Problem with some shaving creams getting hard . . .

I came across this old post and just can't resist replying. I only have one tub of cream; TOBS - Rose. Have had it for a couple of years and it slowly went from soft cream to something akin to a cross between a soap and a cream due to dehydration. I have found this to be no problem at all and now us...

Re: Tabac

When I think of shave soap, Tabac is the first soap that comes to mind. Very affordable, pleasant fragrance (to me), and produces a thick, slick lubricating lather. If there is a "better" shave soap out there, I have yet to run across it. YMMV

Re: Considering a Badger

Mark -- I own both a 1305, which I agree with you is an outstanding performer with both creams and soaps. I also recently acquired a BLK 4 (the black-handled version) and it is undeniably my favourite brush overall now. My wife commented the other day that I own 8 or 9 brushes and that surely that'...

Re: Considering a Badger

I am humbled by the wealth of shaving knowledge and experience amongst the five people who have responded to my post. Thank you all so much for your input and advice. It sounds as if the BK4 may indeed be the next brush for me. And Chris, what I am looking for in a brush is fairly simple. I would l...

Considering a Badger

I have been a member here for a little over 5 years and for most of that time I have used a Semogue 1305 boar brush, which I love. Works very well with both soaps and creams, and it fits my face well. But lately I have been considering a badger brush. My first brush was a cheap badger and it perform...

I shave my head by choice, and like it a lot. I usually shave it twice a week or so. Wife also likes my shaven grape.

My usual shave is done with a Gillette Tech but on special days I go with the straight. I enjoy the straight shave more and it is a closer shave for me. In addition to getting a more satisfying shave, I think I mainly enjoy the fact that I can shave the way my great grandaddy did.
