I'd go a step further and recommend a personal defense class, many of which include gun training. Many confrontations are won or lost well before any gun is fired.

Yum. We used Liberty in our BGS yesterday. I think we overboiled it though; my friends wanted to give it a 3 hour boil (!!) and I would have been happy with 90 minutes. So the hops was boiling in there for three hours.. Hope it turns out ok. The equipment is fairly serious, but hopefully not too exp...

Chess is great. I lost interest when I couldn't find anyone to casually play. To learn again with a friend would indeed be a treat.

Glad you have enough stock to let it age properly; that's the challenge for me right now! My stout's only been in bottle 2 weeks, but even at that it's quite drinkable. Winter weather is going to put a crimp in my brewing, since I do full-wort boils outside. I hate to have a gap in the pipeline; ma...

My first two batches of homebrew have finished their bottle conditioning, and they came out very well. One is a California Imperial Pale Ale with strong malt, strong hops and 7-8% ABV. The other is a nice, well balanced malty stout patterned after Rogue Shakespeare. The stout didn't carbonate quite...

I loved Contact. But I could tell by how rude people were being in the theater than others didn't like it.

Forrest Gump. Was held hostage 3 times before it swearing to myself what a piece of garbage this thing was, while all around were crying and cheering throughout. You might be interested to know the first line of the book: "Let me tell you something: bein an idiot is no box of chocolates."...

The absolute worst film of all time is The Forbidden Zone. I actually kind of like this movie. I saw it first back in the 80's and had been an Oingo Boingo fan for years before that. This is some of Danny Elfmans earliest movie work. Saw the movie again a few months ago on a special edition DVD and...

The absolute worst film of all time is The Forbidden Zone. By worst, I of course mean best, if you know what I am saying... Seriously, go watch that film then come here and tell me your movie is worse. Then watch it again, and if your sense of humor is twisted enough, you might actually start to lik...

To me, the system does make sense, in a way, because it makes the payment, at least hypothetically, service-based. I typically tip 15%. If the service is bad, it goes down (hard to get below 10%). It goes up if the service is good. I also expect better service at a more expensive restaurant, which m...

GC is awesome. I love him. Don't agree with everything, but who cares? I love watching his stand-up/spoken word.

Another guy that is entertaining to watch is Henry Rollins.

Re: Adjustable razor recommendations

Hmm..I have at least 6 Gillette razors that are 40 to 50 or more years old and they all perform perfectly. I have 2 Merkur adjustables (Vision and Progress) that are less than 10 years old and are flawed. The Progress has a different exposure on each side of the razor at any setting. The Vision (my...

Re: Adjustable razor recommendations

I have been getting a good shave with my old super speed and I am thinking of getting an adjustable razor in the future. Being a newbie at Christmas time = empty wallet  I get a better shave with the Gillettes with the taller head design, so do the Fat Boys and the slim adjustables have the t...
