Re: Here's a salute to our friend ---

I haven't been here much in the last few months, and I finally figured out where to find news about Chris. I'm still biting my nails a bit, but relieved that the chances look good!

Chris, all blessings from the Flying Spaghetti Monster! I'm not a follower, but I do respect the power of FSM.

Re: Wtb feather Portable

I used to sell them, but I don;t even have one for myself any more.

I just looked it up on eBay, and now they're selling for surprisingly high prices, possibly even more than a new Fat Boy Gillette adjustable.

Re: COVID survivors

Sam, I've been away from here for a few weeks, so I only just found out about your situation now. For your symptoms, it wouldn't hurt - and could help a lot - to try the seed called Nigella sativa, or the oil made from it. It's sometimes called "black cumin" or "black seed" or &q...

If this isn't Dave (and I don't think it is), it's an interesting coincidence:

Re: What are you reading?

I've been spending a lot of time with two books lately, re-reading and pondering many parts several times over. One is fiction ("First Person" by Richard Flanagan) and one is non-fiction ("What is Reality?" by Adam Becker). "First Person" is about a young, struggling wr...

Re: Sudoku anyone?

On rare occasions I'll do one that's so hard that there doesn't seem to be any way to go forward at a certain point except to guess a square that has two possibilities. I need to mark every square thereafter so I can erase it if I get a contradiction. If that happens, then I change the first square ...

DIRVING79, are you who you seem to be? http://forum.shavemyface.com/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=4207 Actually, I can answer my own question, since I did some more looking around. Yes, you are back (!!!!), but changing your name slightly, which qualifies as a hybrid resurrection/reincarnati...

Face Masks - technical, non-political issues

The story so far: Last time the issue of face coverings came up, I had mentioned my use of a face shield. Since it has a foam pad sealed against my forehead, it offers a fair amount of eye protection from above. Chris shared his practical medical experience about their usual use, and I also found th...

Re: SOTD August 31 - September 6, 2020

I had a surprisingly easy and decent shave, considering I had last shaved a couple of weeks ago. I usually use a small electric clipper first, but in a combination of laziness and curiosity, I decided to go right to the razor. I used a Maggard slant head, a Gillette Sharpedge blade with a few shaves...

At first, I misread it as "okra," which would be very weird. But if you don't mash them up, using okra instead of beans might make this work as a side dish, rather than as a dip. Or lentils. Or use Indian spices instead of the spices (and lemon juice) mentioned above, either your own mixtu...

Re: Sudoku anyone?

To be technical, Sudoku is math, since logic is a branch of math, but it's not quantitative. You could replace the digits with any set of 10 different symbols. The first thing I do is fill in the easy unfilled squares, ones where it doesn't take too much effort to see there's only one choice of digi...
