What a wonderful tribute! I couldn't have said it better. Proraso is my go to cream when I've "overdone it" from using something new or different. For me, it also helps that Proraso has been on virtually all pharmacy/drug store shelves in Montreal for the last several years. So it's hard t...

I don't suppose it's the same company that manufactures a cheap black plastic DE razor? I have it in my possession and the only thing I can read on the head of the razor is CROMA.

Scent was an issue for me too. It was too strong and this strength (in my head) translated into a product that would react with my particular skin. However, that was not the case (in fact it's quite mild to my skin) and for me this scent is just an added bonus. I wouldn't say that I prefer it over s...

These seem interesting.

Has anyone reviewed these horse hair brushes? A few blended (badger/horsehair) have made an appearance but a pure horse hair brush?!

My apologies if this has been reviewed already.

StGeorge,

I actually thought in mid stream you might be talking about Boars.

Small to medium is my preference when we're talking badgers. Medium to large when we talk boars.

More than happy to reload and paint on for multiple passes.

Ed, Could you elaborate about that cream referenced from Trader Joe's? Does this work with a brush? My only encounter at Trader Joes is my occasional foray in Columbus to get my dose of 2 buck Chuck (now 3 or 4 dollars I hear). I briefly noticed a TJ offering for shave cream in a tube but wasn't sur...

Has anyone tried KMF with a MEN-U brush? I like KMF and it works great with all my shaving brushes. I have, however, seen it work extremely well with the MEN-U. It's almost as though (IMHO) that both products were meant to be used together. It just doesn't run out no matter how little cream I use. I...

I'd be curious to know who is pro-boar without having ever tried badger and of course who is sings the praise of the badger without ever having tried a boar. I sit hopelessly on the fence. I started with boar and only several years ago went on an all badger kick. I prefer the badger for luxury but c...

I buy everything in twos for whatever reason -- trumpers almond, Kent soaps, Tabac soaps, valorbras, creamo cream, slants, goodfella and receieved a whole lot of flak over it. They even called me obsessive compulsive but I agree -- I thought the 5 Tabac was crazy. But THIS IS JUST INSANE!! :)

Good choice. I have the barber pole for use at home and take the short (HD) handled Slant on the road. However, I find myself using the short handled one even at home more times than I care to mention. Slant is my everyday razor but I went through all the Merkur heads (except the vision) before I ch...

Received my goodfella razors yesterday and had the opportunity to try them this morning. To the naked eye they seem minuscule yet they are the same size as the Merkur 1905 models. Moreover, they are certainly less aggressive than my merkur open comb which is good thing. However, all they do is simpl...

As another suggestion, try this technique as seen demonstrated by Mantic59 on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSUNBY9zHUw I would however suggest you don't shake your brush as the excess water will fall out anyway. I use a medium and excellent best badger from EJ and it responds wonderfully ...

I have 3 of them now. The the regular slant, the barberpole slant and the gold plated one.

I have "upgraded" to feather blades (from Merkur and Walmart Personnas) but I intend to also use the Dorco, Derby and Lord blades I have since acquired.

Hmmm...I am noticing that the latest reviews on the Cobra are coming and are not as good. I'll stick to the slant. It's the only one that allows me to get away with a single pass. As for it being an ingenious solution to a non existent problem, I guess I'd have to agree. I've used it for so long it ...

Same here. I bought it a year or so ago. I tried it with one of those floppy superbadgers and the results were not promising. It stayed in storage (since transferred it into an old proraso white tub). I brought it out again this time with a EJ best badger. The results are wonderful. Tons of lather t...

I have close to 2 dozen badgers in super, best and pure. But I started with the Omega boars and still use them close to 4 years later. Over the years I've stuck to the slant and gave away the rest of my DEs but when it comes to brushes I am allover the board. I can't stick to just one. Boars will al...

I bought all the Merkurs with the exception of the Vision and the slant is my everyday razor. I noticed a few comments that are worth noting. 1 -- Merkur screwed up my technique with other razors. I shaved with other Merkurs for years without any real complaints. By the time I got experienced with t...
