My faux ivory and chrome Chatsworth is THE razor for me. The handle is FAR superior ergonomically to anything else I've used. I had and sold a Merkur Barberpole too, so I have compared it to regular Merkurs. It's my best shaver bar none!

Hey, Southpaw, is it fair to ask where in SC? I'm near Charleston. I'm actually moving back to where I was born and lived until I was 18 - Newberry, SC, roughly 45 miles N of Columbia. As to test shaving in the house, nope. Didn't even cross my mind to try it. We're not buying it - it's a parsonage...

Re: Piston Filler - Mont Blanc Fountain Pen

The piston filler in my mont blanc fountain pen went south. My local mont blanc store wants to send my pen to Timbukto to install a new one. Where can I get a simple piston filler? You can't. You'll need to have it professionally serviced, either by a competent repair person or by MB - you're choic...

Going MIA for a while . . .

Hi gang, I'll be scarce for a while. We're moving the last week of this month from eastern NC to SC. Wife will be hunting for a new job, so keep that in your prayers, as well as the move. I'll pop in when I can. See ya around! Michael (walks off wondering - in true shavegeek fashion - how the water ...

My favourite post shave habit is to massage excess lather from the brush into my face after my 3rd pass rinse. This started because I loved the scent of the Fat and wanted it to linger while I cleaned up. It leaves my face so much smoother (again, not everyone gets the same experience). Ick. After ...

Hi Gordon, First step is to have your water tested, preferably with multiple samples (at least two, one from each bathroom since the problem seems to be inconsistent in the house). This can be done for very little expenditure and in some cases/locales, for free. I'd suggest contacting your local wat...

I am looking at these scuttles from the perspective of a bowl-latherer. It has been made clear that the Moss scuttle is not designed for lathering, but rather simply to keep the brush and the lather contained therein warm. The Georgetown and/or Dirty Bird Scuttle was designed with bowl-lathering in...

PM sent, Sam. Let me just say over on FPN it is clear that contributing entitles you to absolutely nothing.  You do it just because you want to help support the community. From time to time some folks even have benefit sales, with a certain percentage going to support the site. Of course...

Might I humbly suggest that a means for contributing to the upkeep of the site be established? This would help offset the costs of the server. We do this over at FPN and it works nicely. Contributing or not contributing makes NO difference in your membership. It's just one way to help support the si...
