Re: Russian Green Box 7 O'clock Blades, a Review

And, judging from Bob's photo, they seem to have the same glue arrangement with the wrapper as the Astra SS blades I've been using. That is livable, vs. the 7 o'clock yellows, a pack of which I have relegated to the back shelf. Have an inquiry in to one eBay seller about quantity for the price. If t...

Re: allergies and soaps and creams

I have a puck of Van der Hagen soap stashed away somewhere that I tried, but my face didn't like. Also tried the Wilkinson Sword stick which makes great lather, but my face didn't like that either. Not so much due to the scent, but I believe from the dyes that give it that blue color. I've found tha...

Re: Omega 48 - it is what it is

Premium grade of boar is like saying prettier than average mule. Sounds like you're comparing apples and oranges. Performance and looks don't always go hand in hand. You haven't lived until you've tried a Bestshave Nr. 6 (Boar, w. some token horse hairs). Doesn't look like much, but given a little ...

Re: Family Dollar "Gillette" DE Blades

I'm aware of Gillette Super Thin blades being made in Thailand and Viet Nam, but I wasn't aware that Dorcos were made anywhere outside of Korea. - Murray Which opens up another can of worms: I still have a pack of Gillette Super Thins in Thai packaging. They have worked nicely when I used them, but...

Re: Who still has their very first razor?

It was a 1967 Travel Tech given to me as a Christmas present in the late '60's, in a "genuine leather made in Austria" travel case. I continued using electrics until I decided to try it in the early '70's. Liked the results, but in a hurry to get to work one morning, sliced off part of a b...

Re: Gillette blade problem

I had a few packs of Gillette Spoilers from about 1974 where the first blade or two were nearly impossible to get out. Using a small pen knife, I was able to get between the top and second blade through the center slot. Working between the blades gave enough separation so that I could slide the blad...

Re: The razors you like/use the most?

Brought out an old Lord Smart razor last year after dropping a Slim and damaging beyond use. After some adjustment to technique, found I liked it better than the Gillette adjustables I had been using. Liked it so much so that I bought a Lord L.125 (latest version version of the L6/1822) for travel. ...

Or in the case of a straight razor, probably ground to a nice big, smooth, rounded edge.

Re: The end of an era: Williams to be discontinued.

Yes, lots better products that are actually missed are pushing up daisies. A lack of Williams soap is no loss to the shave community. I hate to see a shave products company go under but... What I don't understand is how can they go from a good formulation to what they presently make and not know th...
