Re: Worcestershire sauce low/no sodium substitute

Gary, I'm going to ask a question that I don't need or want an answer to. Why do you want to restrict Na (sodium) intake and to what degree? The answer is just for you but I'll tie it in in a bit. The reason I ask is because it's suggested that we restrict Na to 1000 - 1500mg. Unless you're swigging...

If they've already bred all they can get is an honorable mention. Darwin Awards are for folks who have removed their genes from the available gene pool.

Re: when is a blade dull?

I think a burn could happen with a brush if it exfoliates too much. If you're using a brush to exfoliate you're misusing it. Shave brushes are for building lather and if they are exfoliating far too much pressure is being applied. It would be much better to go to a brush used for floors or some suc...

On the breadcrumbs... you might also keep fried breadcrumbs in a container in the refrigerator. These are made by frying b'crumbs in oil or butter until they are golden and crispy. Do NOT use high heat and don't walk away from them. As the water is driven off from them they will become golden and be...

Re: What is the best meal you've had at a restaurant?

It might be more than you're looking for, but you asked for best meal... Now good food meals are plenty. But the best means the best and there can only be one. The best I ever had was a buffet at The Manor in (west?) Orange NJ. The buffet was huge and had all high end dishes on it. That's the best I...

Yeah, I give money and a picture of a (for instance) shirt. Let them buy what they want the first time.

I enjoyed the Heizenberg uncertainty principle joke, but it did take me few seconds. That's the best type of joke IMO.

Re: Sharpening Kitchen Knives

Murray I have the Trizor XV. It sharpens to the 15° angle but also will sharpen an edge for the easiest cut in veggies or meats. I ignore that and just get the knives as sharp as possible. One doesn't want to touch the edge because the slightest pressure will cut the skin. Ask me how I know. It'll a...

Re: Sharpening Kitchen Knives

Gary awhile back I asked for a Chefs Choice XV sharpener and after testing the new sharpening angle on a few knives decided to resharpen all of them to the 15° angle. I'd never go back to the European sharpening angle. The sharpener took off a lot of metal initially to get them to 15° but after that...

Re: Well, trip to the Internist for yearly physical and...

Sam, the new data, done with real studies, shows that dietary fats and cholesterol have no effect on cholesterol in the blood. There is evidence that it might even have an overall lowering effect. Here's why. The liver makes a comparatively huge amount of cholesterol every day. Studies suggest that ...

Clive if by "diet" you mean a weight loss diet you'd be correct in stating that they fail, as in "The Keto Diet". But I don't recall anyone other than you, and now myself, having used that word in that context. I specifically stated that I put myself into ketosis which is the ori...

I stopped drinking too Chris. Ketosis and alcohol don't mix IMO. Too many calories that don't come from fat and that's just the alcohol w/o considering any mixers. Now my before dinner drinks are lime juice sweetened with monk fruit extract and a TBL of cider vinegar, seltzer to fill the glass. It m...

Good luck with your weight loss. I goes on lots easier than it comes off! Since you're exercising you could be building muscle so don't only go by weight loss since muscle is heavier than fat. Instead go by waist size, etc. I was plateaued after losing 20 # but my goal was losing an additional 40#. ...

I didn't know what it was so I watched a video. I liked the line, "It's patented so it works.". I got quite a laugh over that bit of absurdity. FD, I use a SE safety razor for facial shaving and have for years. I got the blades in bulk (you can buy in bulk too) for about $.25 per and get a...

Crystal deodorant works great. I use blocks from somewhere in the mid-east (Pakistan maybe?). Nothing as fancy or as usable as the sticks pictured. I've used it for years. One thing some folks might not like... mine have no scent. If it's a true crystal I don't think scent can be present in the crys...

Re: boars for soaps, synthetic/badger for cream?

I read that also and it didn't click initially. Or maybe I thought it was being overly dramatic. Like Murray I just use a gentle swirling motion, no extreme moves that abuse the brush. John, if what you write is accurately represented by the description, have you tried blooming the Williams? I'm not...

Re: boars for soaps, synthetic/badger for cream?

When I was using a cabinet full of products I paid no attention to any of that whether it was triple milled soap or a cream from out of a pump. Now that I use my products exclusively I still pay no attention to any of that, I use the brush of the day, in the rotation when it comes up with my tub soa...

Our local Maine library does much the same thing John. But I must confess I don't use it very much. If I want to read something I generally buy a copy so that I can make notes in it. I just don't have time to read for pleasure anymore other than the odd entertainment that I find in my subscriptions ...

When I was using other manufacturers soaps I can't say that I noticed a huge difference and I always melted them into tubs for loading. It's been years since using them. Have you tried using less water for loading?
