This is probably the single most educational thread I've seen on this board. Should be stickied, IMO.

I finish every shave with Musgo Real balm without fail. No urge to even try anything else, either. Everything else in my shaving regimen I vary from time to time, but not this.

Most of the bigger supermarkets (Aldi, Spar/Edeka) still carry them, at least they did five years ago. Also many drugstores or 'Apotheke' (usually easily identifiable by a neon-lit green cross).

Just had my first shave with the Hungarian Lavender. This is indeed good stuff! And the scent is really, really nice. Very Caldey Island -like, IMO.

From a vendor's website:

Seems like too much hassle to have to do this with every blade change.

Here's one place:

Shipping might be a bit much, though, depending on where you are.

Atlas stainless

Never heard of these before:

Good looking razors, for sure. Apparently available in three different levels of "aggressiveness".

I have to agree with the OP. Great scent, poor performance. Made in Vienna, Austria by Stobaseife.

I also have their cedar shaving soap, with similar characteristics. What a shame, and costs a pretty penny.

Ok, I received the new creams yesterday (didn't order the soap because I just forgot there was a soap). Shaved with the Oak Moss this morning, some first impressions: I broke the seal and gave the tube just a little squeeze on the other end and the cream just kept pouring out. Very runny and airy co...

The only blades made in Czechoslovakia that I've ever tried were Nacet's, and they were excellent, IMO. Astras also used to be made there but I have not had the chance to try any. Both brands are now made in St. Petersburg, Russia (and I do like the Russian made Astras). There are still DE blades be...

Apologies for reviving an old thread, however a couple of months ago I purchased a Gillette 7 O'Clock sampler pack, my Gillette Blacks were made in Czechoslovakia (at least the box indicates as such). I would also love if they brought back the original after shave splash without oil in it. I didn't know anyone could make an alcohol based a/s splash heavy and oily feeling like a balm, but the folks at Musgo managed to do it. I'm no expert but some say it's the aloe vera that makes it so heavy. Wh...

Good to hear that DIY is working for you. The obvious question here, though, is whether you've tried the concentrated dr.selby cream yet? If not, I highly recommend it. BTW, thanks to SMF in general and Gary (brothers) in particular for pointing out this wonderful product.
