John- I thought the sweet (cherry/amaretto) smell of most almond creams was a "manufactured" scent until I smelled a bottle of 100% all natural almond oil extract, used for cooking. It is the exact sweet smell of most almond creams. To me, almonds don't have much of a scent on their own. S...

I think the C&E almond cream outperforms Trumpers, T&H, and the DR Harris (but only VERY marginally) almond creams. I am primarily a soap guy, but the C&E sweet almond oil cream is really incredible. The good thing about this cream compared to the others, is that C&E really does not ...

Roots shave soap

Anyone hear of this stuff? I saw it at Merz. It has a nice scent. It is square in shape as opposed to the traditional round. A 4.2 oz.cake only costs $3.50.

I was really quite underwhelmed by the Arko soap (after reading some very glowing reviews, I had VERY high expectations). I thought the cream was decent, definitely better than the soap. It is certainly worth a try, given the price and the scent, but otherwise I didn't find anything special about th...

This shaving soap is amazing! Unbelievable scent (woodsy, definitely some lavender, very unique... reminds me of a "spa" type scent). The stuff lathers up like nobody's business and provides a shave on par, with any of the other high end soaps I have tried (AOS, DR Harris, Trumpers). I hav...

Chris- Thanks for the review. I was able to secure a brand new pot of DR Harris almond cream for $20.40 delivered (shipped from the UK to the US)... I am shocked that someone didn't find that deal (or at least take advantage of it) before I did. So, I had to jump on that. As far as I know, that ebay...

Tim-
I'm with you. The shaving soap was WAY too strong for me. Sold it after two uses. The stuff literally made me nautious, it was so strong. It's a fine shaving soap, though.

Jeff- I wish I could share your enthusiasm re: the Arko products. I used the "cool" cream, which was actually pretty good. It is quite a misnomer, though, as the actual cooling cream is their "moisturizing" product... so I got hood winked on that. My only shave with the Arko soap...

Yes, it is glycerine. It resembles Col. Conk in appearance (I have never seen the QED soap)... it has that slightly transluscent look to it. Some have said they have trouble lathering glycerine soaps... I can't imagine anyone having trouble with this stuff.... maybe if they use the wrong end of the ...

Ravi- Yes, Pirates Cove... buy it early and buy it often. I have to almost convince myself that it is not the best shaving medium in my medicine chest, because I have so many other higher priced, more well known soaps. But, when it comes down to it, I don't even think DR Harris almond soap (which I ...

I've never used "the colonel," so it may be "worth" $15, but I do know I can pick it up for about 1/5 of the price, if I were so inclined. In the sellers defense, he has 100% feedback with over 4,000 transactions... he may just not be aware that the going rate for this soap is so...

Well, I bit on this stuff. I mean, I'm not made of stone here. All these great reviews, I didn't stand a chance :? I purchased one of the soaps and a tube of the cool cream... $11.93 shipped... that's tough to beat. Regarding the soap, what is the best way to get it into a bowl? (I will be using a &...

You can not go wrong with a DR Harris soap. I have Lavender and almond and they are both superb. I also very much like C&E's soaps, and they are much less expensive than most of the other high-end soaps. AOS is pretty expensive, but their soaps are great. Their sandalwood not only has an amazing...

I'm with Mike R. on this one. I really can't shave any sooner than 22 hours after my previous one. For this reason, I do not shave on Sunday. I usually shave late afternoon on Saturday. If I were to shave on Sunday, it would have to be afternoon, at least... this doesn't leave me enough time, given ...

In general, I like soaps better than creams. C&E soaps are great. I have used nomad and sandalwood soaps, and they are both superb. I have only used the C&E sweet almond oil cream, and that is probably the best cream I have ever used. But again, I am more partial to soaps in general.
