Gordon, yes, in that respect it is much like my two band super Simpson E2. My Stubby is clearly a three band job, but otherwise much like the E2. That was also one of the reasons why I thought that there could be something different in the type of bristle used here. I'm no expert on this sort of thi...

Thank you for your replies, gentlemen. Used my Stubby again this morning, lathered some MWF in a bowl and got dense, slick, cushiony lather in a matter of a few seconds. I'm really happy with the way it performs in every other respect, just hope it loses the prickliness so that I can face-lather wit...

Peter,

I too sure hope that this was just an oddball here, but when it comes to these two particular specimens, I will have to stick to my story. No offense meant here to anyone.

Heritage variation

Gentlemen, A week ago I purchased a medium sized Rooney Stubby, since I wanted to add another soft-tipped but scrubby brush to my rotation and use it mainly for lathering directly on the face. I already have a Victorian (got it early November last year) which pretty much fits the bill, but has a ten...

Yes, the lather is first class, in my very limited experience equalled and perhaps surpassed only by Trumper's coconut. But the scent of this stuff is what has really got me hooked. The best smelling cream/soap I've tried. No contest.

This may not apply to you, but as someone with sensitive skin (at least I thought I had, not so sure anymore) and having switched over to DE shaving from shaving with a cartridge razor (mine was a sensor excel) I now find that my skin seems to be less sensitive than before the switch. Must be the si...

Hear, hear!
It is so easy to take everything on the internet for granted, but nothing just happens here, either. It takes some doing and someone to do it.

Best regards and many thanks

Valobra is quite good and italian made, so is Cella Crema da Barba, and it's even better. MWF reigns supreme, nonetheless...

The Swedes are my favourite and the only blade available locally here in Finland. Almost every store carries them, but none of them carry any DE razors, go figure... I've also tried the Feathers (very close shave, but not a 'relaxing' experience), the Derbys (almost as good as the Swedes, don't last...

What a nice thing to say. These are the words I live by from now on

Rob, According to TGS specs http://www.gentlemans-shop.com/acatalog/Shaving_Brushes.html there seems to be a slight difference (3 mm) in the loft height. Whether that makes a difference in performance, I cannot tell, but it could, I guess. Perhaps in how prone they are to splaying open when pressed ...

Thanks for the quick reply, Brett. I was afraid myself that beauty was only chrome deep in this case. Oh well, no harm done and no money wasted.

Parker 3-piece razors

Hello Gents ! I'm new to this forum and this is my first post here. I have been wet shaving with a DE for a couple of years now and currently own three Merkur razors: Futur, 38C and 23C. Having drooled over the Edwin Jagger razors in the English Shaving Co. website I thought I'd try and subdue my RA...
