Thanks guys. I will stick with the Trumpers Almond and pick up some Italian "croap" next.

Almond Scents

I would like to add another soap or cream to my collection and I am tending towards an almond scented product. Admittedly, I am not well versed in almond fragrance. Trumpers cream and C&E's Sweet Almond Oil soap/cream are my only benchmarks. Ideally, I would like a *lightly* scented marzipan sce...

I don't normally link between forums but thing you should all be aware of a recent issue. http://www.theshaveden.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17452 I've read about this piece of theater as well in the two "other" forums. I'm not sure what quite to make of it as I have "no dog in the fi...

I received my order today. 51 days. It is wrong but of course I dont believe my emails were read(3 of them). Should've cancelled order before but that email probably would not have been read either. I wish Krissy the best with her venture. I ordered from her on November 14th and haven't received my...

RR, Well, it could happen, and that possible scenario has been mentioned here before. Palm oil definately presents much more compelling enviornmental concerns than tallow and if enough people become aware of that issue it could make the seeming advantages of using it disappear for the soap making c...

Chris: No, they were palm oil based soap noodles. Though they perform as well as any tallow soap I have used.

Palm Oil May Be Next...

In my ever frustrating quest to manufacture a world class shaving soap, I was speaking to another experienced soap company today. (In Europe they all laugh at my requests for tallow). The owner was mentioning that tallow has been "taboo" for soap makers over the past several years. He pred...

Oscar de la Renta - Pour Lui

I was in a specialty fragrance shop and tried Oscar de la Renta's 80's fragrance Pour Lui. I found it to have a nice spicey drydown, whereas my wife could only smell florals. I like it... but thought I would see if anyone else here on the forum has tried this scent. Any comments would be appreciated...

The only sensitivity issues I've ever had came from using rose creams, which I thought would have been beneficial to my skin type. Lime was neutral and almond always forgiving. Same here. I react to very few soaps/creams. Rose is the only one which I occasionally run into trouble if used for prolon...

Sir W., That's quite true, but in this case you have it the other way 'round. RA Rooney actually makes brushes, T&H rebrands them. Normally, the old London firms like Trumpers and Taylors charge MORE for the same brush than the actual maker, but some of the T&H Rooney made models are the ex...

I won't say Trumper's soaps aren't good, but I get thicker, creamier, etc. lather with the DRH, MWF, AOS, and Institute Karite soaps and a smidge more beard softening with less work. The difference is noticeable. Maybe it's my water. To be honest, the differences are shavegeek level and I didn't ap...

Really?

Thanks for the heads-up. Much appreciated...

I can whip up lather like any soap veteran. Though Trumpers soap (not cream - love it) has never wowed me. I find the lather to be quite average.

Maybe I should be using a different brush.

WTB/T: Trumpers Soap (Tallow, Any Scent)

As I have had mediorce results with today's Trumpers soap, I would enjoy giving the old formula a whirl.

If anyone has a new/used Trumpers soap (of any scent) that they wish to part with, please let me know.

Cheers,

RR

Sigh....one more excellent old product that this forum has significently helped in driving the prices up on...along with several models of Gillette DEs, later model Schick Injectors, and God knows what else. The old Yardley was superb shaving soap, so pay what you're willing to for one of the very ...

Yardley Shaving Soap

There is presently an auction on EBay for a sealed Yardley shaving soap.

I have never tried this discontinued soap but hear it is as good as shaving soap gets.

How "rare" has Yardley become? Is this soap worthy of getting into the recent Penhaligons tallow soap bowl prices?

Dave, Thanks for the information. One reason I don't buy home crafted soaps is that it is impossible for them to do triple milling, and that is kind of a must for me, whether it's soap for the shave or for the bath, although admittedly, with bath soap it's a little less of an absolute. It's really ...

If you enjoy dark rum, inexpensive Old Sam puts most others to shame.

It is a low cost dark rum with deep caramel flavours. It tastes great. Old Sam is distributed by the Newfoundland Liquor Corporation in Canada and is not available in all provinces.

Saving Face - Lime Tallow Soap

Gents, I had a few people wondering how my milled lime tallow soap via the contract manufacturer was progressing. I thought I would "save face" and mention that I have hit a (hopefully temporary) roadblock. After another poor sample showing, I am going to part ways with the supplier. They ...
