I don't know why I have bad luck with experiences like these. I've had some very nice conversations with Kurt or Kirk (can't recall his name exactly) while in the shop. The services I've had and a rude young man that turned his back to me after I asked him a question while shopping a few months ago ...

I think you will enjoy the feeling of the clipless pedals, and wouldn't be surprised if you find yourself replacing them with full-on clipless somewhere down the road for the lighter weight and resulting faster speed. I've been debating back and forth on that issue. What would your thoughts be know...

Hi Clark, You'll end up with plenty of suggestions. No harm in trying out the ones that interest you. It was part of the fun for me. Some worked while some didn't. Some you just like just because. I have kept my original HD to use while traveling. Not my favorite razor, but it's what I learned on. I...

I think I finally decided on the Shimano A530. They seem best for the types of riding I'll be doing. The jersey I'm leaning towards from there is the Nashbar Errol. I like that they come in long as I'm a bit lengthy. The tees they have by Nashbar look like a good deal for the more leisurely riding, ...

Truefitt and Hill Chicago Shave & Haircut

I've been thinking about whether or not to post my experience. I had one barber shave there before, and I wasn't terribly happy about it either. I thought I did a write up about it here, but while searching I couldn't find it. This time I figured I would share my experience. I received a gift certif...

My riding time in WI wasn't as I had hoped, but still tons of fun. Only was able to get out early Wednesday morning. My uncle tagged along, so we took things more at his pace. We mostly were on paved trails, but had some scenic road time while crossing paths with other 'roadies'. I like it out there...

I've been thinking of getting into biking lately ... I used to bike quite a bit but then stopped for a couple of decades. I've been wondering if it's worth it to have my old bike restored with new wheels, gears, etc. on the old aluminum frame or just buy a new bike. I used to think it wasn't worth ...

Greg -- have you checked out Nashbar yet? Their own brand jerseys are quite well made - especially for the price. The only way I have found to beat their prices is at the LL Bean Factory outlets -- especially in North Conway or Freeport. Already have some pedals, lights, and bottles in the shopping...

Instead of taking my bike to the shop today for it's first look over I ended up getting a jersey from LL Bean, water bottle cages from REI, and a shave and a haircut from Truefitt and Hill with a gift certificate I received (I will post a review later and I am none too pleased). I'm looking forward ...

Be careful with this hobby. It adds up fast, and there is limitless options for personal preference. Thanks Wendell. It seems like I can add a few buzz words for my problem then you go ahead and clear up all the chatter that's out there on bike forums, etc. Have you done a tour or mini tour on your ...

I am sorry that Mike's thread was hijacked by me, but at least we have a nice bicycle thread going. I'm visiting family in WI on Wednesday, and I am taking my bike in either today or tomorrow for it's first check-up. Bike shop offers two free check-ups and two free full tune-ups within two years of ...

I've tried a stick or two over the years, but I've always come back to using just creams. I can see their potential for use in a nice travel kit. Seems almost perfect to use the DR Harris one in the twist type tube for that purpose.

Wendell, Yes! Those exactly. If I decide to stick with one bike that's probably the way I'll go despite some of the cons I've read about them. The other option I'm thinking about is spending the coin on another bike. Some single speeds that I rode are a lot of fun even though around here they are pr...

Wendell, I have thought about the clipless pedals, and I'm not sure they are right for me. The Jamis came with, unless the bike shop put them on, toe cages and straps. I'm liking this kind of set up over the clipless since I can go about more 'leisure around town bike business' with ease. I don't kn...

It's hard not to drivel on about riding. There's a few mods I'm contemplating too, but I want to ride/read up a bit more first. So far I'm thinking just a new pedal set up, post bag, water bottle cage, lights for night riding. Anything more complicated than that I wouldn't know what to get. Saddle, ...
