I tried Gary's suggestion of distilled water a couple of months ago and found it to be more trouble than it was worth. To get the real benefit of the soft water, I had to rinse my face with it before each of 4 passes and rinse the razor in it after every second stroke. That's a lot of distilled wat...

Distilled water is pretty cheap, by the gallon. It worked wonders for my shaves. I use it every day. I've been through almost 3 gallons now, since I followed the advice that I'd been given through reading these forums for almost 2 years. The gallon I got yesterday was .78 plus tax. The distilled wat...

I have absolutely no idea why, but I've never had any inclination to try any of the 'artisan' soaps. I've always felt more of a pull towards the traditional English style, triple milled soaps myself. Gareth Same story here. Same here! However, the more I read the comments by the guys that do, the m...

I personally enjoy coffee made in a melita brand plastic drip funnel with a filter paper inserted, ones favourite ground coffee added, then sit the lot over a mug and add hot water. - drip, drip, drip ! - mmmmm ! American made coffee is not held in the highest esteem around the globe as a lot of pe...

Stephan's is my friend
Stephan's Stay Smooth Conditioning Shave Cream. Brushless. Made in USA, Florida actually. It's around 4 bucks for 16 ounces. I use it every day as a preshave beard conditioner, then I rinse it off and shave with my more conventional lathering creams and soaps. One day this week I was in a big hurry,...

Following up on making coffee ---
In a pinch, or even if it was everyday, I could get along just fine with boiled coffee. Anything that makes coffee is OK by me, and we've tried them all. Here's my point: this method of making coffee works about as simple as anything. It works anywhere there's a heat source, some water, a pan, and s...

Sorry I don't take time to read really long threads, I just jump in at random, hopefully I'm not too far out of context at this point but I do want to mention my favorite is Community Coffee from Baton Rouge Louisiana. For years we had to depend on relatives coming up or trips we took down there to ...

Under consideration - DR Harris Rose Soap
Someone has communicated with DR Harris about the possibility of a Rose Soap. Harris has stated that they haven't yet decided, so evidently they're thinking about it. We need to send them an email with a suggestion that they should make a soap in Rose. Here's the email address: sales@drharris.co.uk ...
