Be sure and strop for 30-50 laps just before each shave, not the nite before. Randy, I have seen you mention this a couple of times recently, and wanted to ask you more about it. The old-timers used to claim a razor's edge would re-align itself somewhat with time (a good excuse for a seven day set)...

Re: Kiss My Face Moisture Shave

I've watched the videos about too much/too little water; I don't think this is the problem though. But it is the problem if your lather is too thin. KMF can make splendid thick protective lather when you get the right ratio. Use a generous amount with a brush shaken out properly, then add just the ...

I know which I would prefer, but that might not help you. I'd suggest you search this forum for posts with the word Vision in them, then go read about straights at SRP, and see which you feel most excited about.

It's standard Shavemac hair, with the usual soft tips and the ability to become very firm and rubbery as you shorten the loft.

I was heathen enough to hone and use one of the five 8/8 damascus TI's that were specially made for SRP some years ago, this (I am told) spoiling it's value as an investment. But I didn't buy it as an investment, so who cares?

You could always pay me to come and teach you, flights and all!

Failing that read the Guide on the home page and ask any questions. Half the fun is mastering what you think is something difficult, and when you discover it's all very easy, well, we won't tell if you don't!

Chris,
The handle is the same as the Shavemac 173 in external proportions, with the baseplate on the bottom. So from the underside of the baseplate to the top of the handle is 63mm, and the width at the waisted centre is 38mm.

Wayne, they'll be available for 2-3 weeks so don't get yourself too excited. They will be stamped on the base, so you don't have to look at it, 'Moss Brush'. No signature, no individualised markings. It is a 25-26mm knot as far as I can measure with calipers. When I go home I can get you the o...

Another acolyte for the Church of the Holy Feather! Don't forget to use the Professional Super blades, which last longer and aren't quite as deadly sharp. Concentrate on what you are doing as the AC doesn't forgive inattention. Sooner or later you are going to want that straight, and you know it. Ch...

No no no no no. There's no dilution will save your bacon unless we get to homeopathic ratios. And vodka and lime a slappers' drink? Never, not dahn sarf. Too posh. Actors drank it. Hell, *I* drink it: vodka, lime and soda water, a.k.a "Fraser water" after the late Ronald Fraser, actor; al...

Did you intend that to be rude, as it certainly sounds that way? Intentions, as the man once said, are the booby prize. And if it's intentions that you want, then you are most likely a booby. Please close the booby hatch behind you. I'll take that as a 'yes'. Any reason why you wish to offend? Chris

I noticed you've changed your mind from the original design of a fan shape to now personally wanting it in bulb shape. I know you had to convince Bernd in making it with a fan shape because this is now his first one. Wha made you change your mind to go with a buld shape? I've always been a fan (pun...

The second prototype can be seen in the 'VLB MkII' thread. It looks like the first prototype except for having a faceted baseplate. It can be in either fan or lightbulb shape, and the handle can be cream, black or faux-tortoise. There are no plans for other handle shapes at present, because of the m...

Chris, Since the brush is partly retractable, did you ever consider adding a cap, to make it also a travel brush? Stan That was never part of my plans, but now you mention it I can see the brush could be used as it is for a travel brush. When fully retracted the knot of hair is short and compressed...

Rum and black, dear boy, is just that - rum and blackcurrant concentrate such as Ribena. The addition of hot water makes it into a form of toddy, and thus elevates it into respectability, especially if you're cold or sick. The real slapper drink in my day was vodka and lime. When you mention Stones ...

Gavin,
The three T's get their creams from Creighton's, but each has their own recipe. Creighton's do sell their own under the Real Shaving brand:
