Re: Got a new smart phone today

I have an HTC one (M7, the newer on is the M8, out last month), and would not hesitate to recommend an HTC One to anyone. Mine is rooted and all that, effectively turned into a developer phone, however my wife has one as well, and hers is as standard as they come (as far as I know she's never downlo...

Re: Sirrius XM radio

Another vote for the Waze app here. Being community driven or socially networked or whatever makes it very useful. As well as finding routes that avoid bad traffic, it warns you about speed traps, speed cameras and red light cameras. The price is right, as well (as in, free with occasional pop-up ad...

Re: Quick flying question, Southwest

I don't fly for business, but my wife does, and she flies Southwest from time to time. As long as your backpack could be described as similar in dimensions to a woman's purse, I think you'll be fine. Your carry-on will go in an overhead, and your "personal item" bag will need to go under t...

Re: Jury duty

I've been called twice. The first time I told the judge (because it was the truth) that my daughter had become ill that morning and my wife had to work so I needed a deferral. I was a little disappointed because it seemed like an interesting murder trial. The second time I had no situation to preven...

Re: A must-read for lurkers and new shavers!

Wow - there's a blast from the past. I do still visit SMF every weekday, however I rarely post these days due to having a much more demanding (and rewarding) workday than at the start of my wetshaving journey. I'll read a post, think of replying, do something else, and come back to find the communit...

Re: Not Usually A Movie Goer, But ....

Being a fairly monumental Tolkien fan during my teen years (I have visited his grave. . .) I always found the Tom Bombadil text the least compelling of anything in the LOTR/Hobbit books. If anything had to be omitted from the films, I would have chosen good old Hey dol! merry dol! ring a dong dillo!...

Re: You only get two razors; which & why

I use two razors every shave, although only one on my face. Merkur Bobgress for my face, and Fusion for my head, are the choices most days. A head (well mine, anyway) is so uniform and supported everywhere by bone that the Fusion is the ideal tool for it. The Bobgress has been my favourite DE for a ...

Re: Feeling Like George Banks

Much like Chris, I didn't get the reference, then googled George Banks, then wondered what exactly Wendell was trying to tell us. . .I naturally assumed I had the wrong end of the stick and shouldn't expect to see Wendell in the news.

Re: The world's longest ingrown

Well, I clicked on it, and then clicked on one of the related videos. I'm intrigued at the thought process that leaves an enormous black thing on a face for "literally months", and then decides to dig at it with tweezers and a video camera. I still feel hungry, and am about to take lunch. ...

I could see an argument for giving it to Jose, knowing it would be a short term thing because he doesn't hang around too long. He's a natural winner, and a big enough personality to step into the void left by SAF's departure. I'm not sure being the manager right after Sir Alex is attractive as being...

I've actually been in the routine of changing the posts to 2013 each Monday morning, but had forgotten to do it the last couple of weeks. Bad moderator!

Anyway - I fixed them just now, and all is right with the world.

Wendell, I've had occasional problems with certain jacks not fitting in certain ipods in certain situations, and have usually solved them with a good shove  I currently carry an Android phone and an iPod Classic (120GB) most of the time, although the Classic stays in the car 85% of that time. yes, it is harsh, but it's true. probably one of the few true things about the lance armstrong story! I feel the same as Paddy. The number of times I've been looked at like some sort of kook for suggesting Lance was doping is astronomical. I admit I took longer than I should have to be convinced, b...
