Re: TSA question re shaving gear
Murray - With regard to carry-on items, my experience is that TSA agents sometimes do what their own website says -- and other times they don't. The travelling public has no power and no recourse to such capricious and inconsistent acts other than to complain (at a later time). Example: there was a ...

Re: Taking a break from really sharp blades
I have been using the sharper blades but recently decided to re-try Derby blades. My first experience with them was decidedly blah -- but my technique has improved since then. I was pleasantly surprised. Am now using a regular Derby in a black handle super speed. Extremely smooth and comfortable, bu...

Re: Harris soap reformulation
Be still my heart! Blood pressure needs to revert to normal.
I feared that Gary was going to announce that DRH reformulated for the worse, even (shudder the thought) removing tallow. That would be absolutely terrible.
Glad to see I was wrong. Whew!!

Re: Face lathering and brush loading (soap)
Interesting. Maybe it's the water quality/ hardness. In my case, completely dry brushes yield complety awful results. A short soak yields better results. A longer soak of about 5 minutes (Simson Duke in best badger) thoroughly shaken out does best of all.

Re: Package incoming from Pakistan
The seller refused to ship to HI. That's the problem as I understand it. This was something simple like an inexpensive little dress or something a 2 year old would wear. That's what moms and grandmothers do, they shop on the internet and buy this and that for the kids. :D Gary - Isn't the whole rea...

Re: Package incoming from Pakistan
I am officially confused. Gary lives in the United States. His daughter lives in the United States. The seller will ship to one part of the united Stated but not to another part of the United States. It is 7627 miles from Islamabad to Oklahoma City plus another 3742 miles from Oklahoma City to Honol...

Agreed. Be VERY wary. If the message includes an alleged Fedex tracking number, do NOT click on it. Instead, I suggest the following procedure. Write down the alleged tracking number Go the the fedex website by YOURSELF , and type in he alleged tracking number by YOURSELF. If no info is located, it ...

Here's something similar at Connaught Shaving that takes standard Injector blades: https://connaughtshaving.com/supply.html - Murray The same razor Murray has mentioned is available to US buyers much more economically (and likely faster) at the OEM's website https://getsupply.com/products/the-singl...

Re: Ear Wax - A Novella
I don't mean to hijack this thread but the information is valuable to US military veterans and should be publicized. The VA has changed its position on hearing aids. Nowadays the VA will give you a super-complete hearing test and (if needed) top-of-the-line heading aids from the top manufacturers FO...

Re: 'Website not secure' notification
There is a free ssl certification available from the Electronic Freedom Foundation (EFF) via letsencrypt.org . You need root access to the web server to install it, but I have been using it for a couple years without incident. To redirect all traffic to https, you add a 301 redirect to the Apache o...

What's important is that it worked for you. The only ones who are entitled to respond to your information would be someone who's actually experienced it and formed their own opinion. :D Any information you can share regarding the brand and store? I hope I'm not violating any SMF rules by mentioning...

I tried a new prep alternative about which I recently read (can't remember where). Step1 - apply electric razor pre-shave lotion. Whiskers stand up straight rather than being limp from warm water. Step 2 - lather up and shave with cold water. Simple. Fast. Cheaper than many other alternatives. Resul...

Re: New blade bad shave
Hello Robert I have never used a straight (old guy, shaky hands some days) but from what I have read, your razor may not indeed be shave ready even though you have been told so. Dr Moss (see above comment) is right on the money. He is a guru on this subject, well worth listening to. May I suggest go...

Re: Ask and ye shall receive - RAZORS. And BLADES
Hi Paul
I'm looking for a Super Speed to have up at our cabin, so I don't have to take kit up and back all the time.
Back in June you mentioned a W1 without the case. Do you still have?
Thanks

Re: Has anyone tried the Gillette 3?
To return to Paul's original question, I have tried the Gillette 3 and I like it. To me, the 5 and Fusion seem too big to get the job done. The 3 is just plain and simple and effective. I would prefer a DE shave, but the Gillette 3 (to me) is a good choice for travel or when in a hurry or when parti...

Re: Return to Simplicity
@ churchilllafemme - Here is an idea for your 80th birthday. Because DEs are forbidden as carry-ons, I recently became curious about the newly-launched "Gilette3" (not Mach3) cartridge shaver. When used with a fresh cartridge, they give as good a shave as a DE (for me, anyway). I was also ...

We were in Halifax a few years ago on Canada Day. They kept the giant party going until July 4th when they celebrated USA Independence Day. Our hosts told us Canadians will use any excuse for a party. Way To Go, Canada!
