Re: What's today's soap or cream?

Trumper's Rose soap (old stuff)

I found that rose is my best scent. I can use it any time, where in contrast Tabac and Malborough are better for an evening shave. I can also use it in any season, summer or winter with no problem! It is so refreshing and clean smell to me! :-)

King's shave today! Shavemac is such a nice brush, if you allow it to take what it wants from the pot!

Re: What's today's soap or cream?

D. R. Harris Windsor cream.

What a nice shave! I don't know why, but D.R. Harris creams are not mentioned that often in forums. However, it is an excellent product!

Anyone recommends the rose?!

D.R. Harris, now is the time for a Rose soap!

I have tried so many soaps, but every time I return to D.R. Harris! The lather is fantastic, the shave is very close and my skin feels really good afterwards! I didn't even know when I started about the tallow based soaps, but I was rather buying based on the scent. However, D.R. Harris, Valobra, Ta...

Re: Rate of soap removal decreases over time?

Squire I am a bit confused on that, because I make lather easier when I don't leave water on the top of the cake to rest, but rather wet the soap and start loading immediately!

Rate of soap removal decreases over time?

Sometimes when I am lathering triple-milled hard soaps, I underestimate the amount of soap that is loaded on the brush, which in turn results in poor and thin lather. Therefore I return back to the cake and give some more swirls. However, I noticed that when I work my brush on the cake a little bit ...

Re: Is BK4 good with soaps as well ? Need a not-so-dense bru

First of all thank you all for your replies! Tim, I couldn't agree more. Shavemac is a very dense brush, built like a tank and has a luxurious feeling. However, you must use much more product in order to release the lather, and time in case you are lathering a soap. Back then when I wanted to buy a ...

Is BK4 good with soaps as well ? Need a not-so-dense brush!

Hello folks, long time to see you! After being the last 6-7 years a wetshaver, it seems that the BK4 might fullfills my expectations! I am using mainly soaps and I was wondering if this brush could deal with the soaps. Before 5 years I bought a Shavemac D01 brush with a 24mm knot. Believe it or not,...

My first straight razor...

Today I received my first straight razor as a gift... It's a DOVO carbon steel razor, with a black wooden handle. I was surprised and didn't expect it; I don't have a strop and a hone. The razor is wrapped with oil and I don't want to use it before I am ready and have the proper equipement. So here ...

Leisureguy, is there a big difference between Silvertip and Finest? Yes, in price. But I'd like to know if they perform differently or feel much different. Gordon are you talking about this http://www.shavemyface.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=43085 ? Any suggestion about the difference between the PJ an...

Something to satisfy my craving.....

Hello everyone!! After getting in the world of high-end brushes with a shavemac, and knowing now what I want (I think so), I am trying to find a new brush. One which I could use both with soaps and creams for face-lathering. My shavemac is a D01 24mm knot. It's an excellent brush...!!! BUT... I thin...

If I were you, I wouldn't think of a limit, and buy a D.R. Harris soap.

They are simply amazing, and if you consider how long it takes to finish a cake, it will cost you pennies!

I think a DE is the greatest way to learn how to shave with a multi-blade razor. After using a DE for a long time I learned what means no pressure. Many guys don't know this until they use a DE and butcher themselves. When I go back to my Fusion I get great shaves in a combination with the wet-shavi...

They are not the same thing.

Soap has a stronger scent and thicker lather. I don't know why but the cream isn't that special as soap, and it doesn't lather nearly as good.

The soap will crack very fast!

I will never buy again the cream, but the soap for sure yes.
