Re: Big Boy #4014 UP #844 Double header

Yes, Gary, the steamers do seem to be "alive" don't they. Much more so than the diesels. I know diesels were adopted because they were more efficient and less complicated, but they just didn't come alive like a steamer. Thanks for sharing this. I have seen before and it is always a treat t...

Re: Joke of the Day

This reminds me of the one about the two streetwalkers Jan and Fran, who had known each other for years. Coincidentally, they were going on summer vacation at the same time. After they return from their vacations, the friends meet for coffee. Jan asks Fran where she went on vacation. Fran replies th...

Re: First razor for young son?

I will second the PL602 which is plastic. If your son likes it, then he can move up to (or you can gift him) the Razorock Baby Smooth which is effectively the same razor in aluminum, looks nicer and is reasonably priced. As for brushes, I would guess that he will find a good quality synthetic easier...

Re: Do You Think Wet Shaving Could Be Trending in 2020?

For me, it's all about shave quality. I started in about 1960 with a Super Speed and, (sadly) like millions of men, converted to cartridges. I never got a really good shave with a cart, and the electrics were even worse. Having gone back to traditional shaving means I am getting the best shaves of m...

Re: Is Hard Water an Issue for You?

We live in an apartment building. The landlord has a softener on the hot water only, not on the cold water. When I shave with hot water, the soap behaves better than when I shave with cold.

Re: Checking out some Taylor's soap and creams

Rufus has mentioned that he has to load for a looong time. My best results with DRH come when I rub the bloomed puck on my face as if it were a shave stick. Sticks are expensive, so I rub the puck. Works for me!

Would it be cost prohibitive to buy from Trumper website? What about buying it from Amazon -- I don't think they let anything sit around long.

Re: 150 years? Really???

Here's an idea, gents. How about waking up early one morning, shaving with bacon-scented shaving cream (I saw some a few months ago) and then having cream-of-bacon soup for breakfast? The house would smell great! :D

Re: I just got suspended fro Ebay!!!

I didn't know that a person even could be suspended from eBay. Speaking for myself personally, I would not want to give them as much info as you describe here. I would tell them to pound salt. One can live one's life without eBay.

Re: WTB Baby Smooth

Hi Paul - The vendor website says that the 2019 version head covers the razor blade end caps. I presume this means the former version did not. To me , covering the tabs does not matter one way or the other. The different versions may be different in other ways as well; since I did not have the origi...

Re: I’m looking for very mild safety razors for sensitive skin. HELP!

I have only used it with Derby so far -- and there is a reason. The head design curves the blade so very sharply that I wondered how well it would perform with a mild blade. So far I have used it with Derby regular blades and Derby Premium blades -- and it does a surprisingly good job. Since I have ...

Re: I’m looking for very mild safety razors for sensitive skin. HELP!

The RazoRock Baby Smooth provides, for me , that almost magical combination of being very mild, very comfortable, and very efficient. It wipes off the whiskers and feels like I could not hurt myself even if I tried. It's aluminum and thus very light, which tends to promote a light touch and no press...

I'm not highly enough educated to even know how to pronounce it. :D A BS isn't enough in today's world. There are dozens of multi-syllable derogatory words used in certain speculative circles nowadays. I don't know what most of them mean, nor do I care. I have much more respect for people of who are...

Gary - I couldn't handle 29 brushes, but applaud you decision to donate the sales price to St. Jude Children's Hospital. They do good work -- both with research and with patient care. Props to you.

At age 73, I still remember a middle school teacher telling me she could sum up the American value system in nine words -- big is good, bigger is better, biggest is best. Hmmmmm, sounds accurate to me.

Re: A Tip of the Hat to Amazon

We recently ordered a wart removal freeze-off kit. It arrived with missing pieces. I was able to get an agent online who took care of the problem immediately. So I can vote for great customer service this time. Question to the OP - I could not find a phone number. Would you care to share it? Thank y...
