Re: For the Old Timers: Best Value* Wet Shaving Products?

Floid aftershaves. Good stuff and very affordable, at least this side of the pond. Cella colognes, lavender in particular, would also get my vote, if only they fixed the leaking caps.

Boellis Crema da Barba (Spiga, Condotti, Chiaia 9)

I came across these while looking for some Panama shaving soap: http://www.italianshavingshop.com/index.php?manufacturers_id=40 New to me and to this forum, I believe, as my search yielded nothing. Apparently they have launched correspondingly titled colognes in 2014 or thereabouts and they seemed m...

Re: shavemac pure badger

I did own a shavemac pure badger brush years ago, a bulb shaped one, but it was far too prickly for me. Quite stiff, too, if memory serves. Face lathering was out of the question and even applying lather from a bowl was uncomfortable. The only pure badger brush that I have these days is a Vulfix Gro...

Re: replating a razor

I've never taken apart a slim myself, but if it's anything like this fatboy, I wouldn't trust any chemical to do the job. Quite a bit of elbow grease needed here, IMO:

Also available from Barbiere di Figaro in the Netherlands.

They also carry 'Figaro' after shave and shave cream as well as 'Viking' shave cream by the same maker (Caola).

Re: Hair clippers and cutting your own hair

Corded are definitely the way to go ... +1, got myself one of these maybe ten years ago and never looked back. I use it once a week and would replace it in a heartbeat if it ever wears out. So much better than the supermarket stuff. http://www.moser-profiline-shop.com/Moser-ProfiLine-Primat/details...

Re: Are my blades GENUINE ?

Just received some Wizamet Lodz Polsilver stainless blades from a reputable dealer...I was surprised to see the 4 wax dots usually found on Russian blades, the Lodz blades were free from wax glue dots,or so I thought. Now I am wondering did I receive the "genuine article" ...???... I bought...

Re: Good lavender scents?

Rick, if you want to try Cella and you're willing to take your chances with the leakage issue, there are European online vendors who will ship worldwide.

Re: Gucci EDT

If I were you, I'd wait until Phil at BullGoose receives his Pitralon afterhave shipment. It'll be the Classic (aka German Pitralon, the one with the green label) that you'll want to try. Pretty much all cedar to my nose at least.

Re: Good lavender scents?

Inspired by this thread I decided to try Cella and I'm glad I did. It's really good stuff. Too bad about the malfunctioning caps, though. I ordered two bottles and both had leaked. Not much but still. I've had this happen on two occasions before. Both times it was Taylor's Victorian Lime, faulty cap...

Re: More shedding issues

I had one of those. Mine shed quite a bit at first, then stopped after a couple of months, was fine for a few months until it started shedding again and this time with a vengeance - at which point I just binned it and called it a day. Life's too short and all that. I do miss it, though. I've bought ...

Re: Good lavender scents?

I like this "mountain lavender" from Portugal:

Not sharp, more like Caldey Island, IMO. There's other stuff besides lavender in there, but barely noticeable.

St. John's Bay Rum Shaving Cream (coming soon)

... or so it says on the product leaflet which came with my cologne shipment. I could find no further info on their website. I'm really looking forward to this. Hope they get it right.

Re: Any Other Leather Lovers?

Pete, you can select language on that pomade shop site from a drop down menu on top left corner. They use google translator so it's far from perfect but better than nothing. And yes, that Bernoth Juchten is plenty potent stuff, IMO, and can easily be overdone.

Re: Any Other Leather Lovers?

Trumpers SL is my favorite but I also rather like this Bernoth's take on Russian Leather: http://www.pomade-shop.eu/epages/61591627.sf/de_DE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/61591627/Products/25103 No idea though how true - if at all - to the original cuir de russie it is, since it's the only one of its kind I've...

Could also be a case of EU trying to protect the inner market, I suppose, although I have no idea if the same regulations would apply within EU. They probably do and then some, and regardless, too much is just too much.

Re: Carbolic Soap

I used to own a bunch of old finnish 'Suomen Kuvalehti' magazines from 1918 to 1938 and I recall (lost the box they were stored in in a housemove long ago) there being ads for radioactive bandages or dressings which were supposedly good for aching joints and muscles, rheumatism in general.
