Re: Which Hermes, Chanel, Dior for summer? Or am I reaching
I've come to love Eau Sauvage but have enough of it to last a lifetime so no more buying any for me. I did discover a very old original bottle of Fahrenheit in a draw that must be 30 years old. Still smells good, though I'll never wear it. Brings back some pleasant memories so it's nice to sniff the...

Re: What bath soap are you using right now?
Clive, how did I miss this? So sorry you didn't enjoy the Yardley. I guess it does not lather well in your location? Does pretty good here and we definitely have hard water. I've since used a cake of the new Vinolia and I have to say it wasn't bad. Lately been extending the trip down memory lane and...

Hi Sam, Unfortunately I forgot about this entirely and haven't tried it. Thanks for the reminder, though, as I just put it on the grocery store list. I'll let you know what I think once I've had time to give it the once over.

Re: When do you shave?
I shave before my shower every morning. The exception would only be a day where I would plan to do work around the house. I'll shave first thing in the morning, dress for the work I'm doing, complete that then shower. Before I shave I always wash my beard with soap and water as it softens the whiske...

Dominica Bay Rum Revisited
Afternoon All, with the disappearance of Dominica Bay Rum a few years ago I have hoped for the odd bottle or so to appear on the bay to grab and compare. Some have come and gone without my interest being aroused. I passed for reasons of quality - most were not sealed from the original purveyor. Well...

Re: What's for supper?
Tonight we’re having friends for dinner, so we’re going whole hog: grilled beef tenderloin with a garlic, rosemary and peppercorn rub, accompanied by asparagus, wild rice and butternut squash. For starters it’s a smoked salmon salad and afters it’s cheese (Stilton and old English cheddar) and crack...

No, just had to make the comment since that movie was playing a lot in March and I was surprised to see Harrison Ford using an old DE like this in it.

Re: razors making newz
Good article! Great to see the word is getting out and hopefully benefiting folks. I have three teenage daughters and the youngest asked for a DE for Christmas. She's had it a little over a year now and so far seems pleased with it. I should show her this article. She'll be glad to know she ahead of...

Re: Unusual Opal Brush
Neat looking brush! Thanks for posting a picture of it. I wonder if the handle wasn't supposed to hold a shaving soap stick in it. I imagine something is also missing from the whole set up, a tube that the whole brush fits in for travel, perhaps? I am thinking of something like the Simpson's shaving...

Re: What bath soap are you using right now?
Been using the Basis soap for about a week now and I have to say I'm pretty pleased. We have hard water here in the suburbs of Philadelphia so it doesn't lather all that great but it does a great job and it's very mild. So far no irritation detected. So far I am enjoying this and it's a nice trip do...

Good luck, John. I can't believe Penhaligon's discontinued English Fern. It was a true classic.

Re: What bath soap are you using right now?
Hi Clive, I bought mine from https://www.soapkings.com/product/yardley-original-english-lavender-soap-set-3/ This was sometime last year and I'm just getting around to using some of it. They are out of stock and have been for many months now. I also would get the Yardley talc from them as well. They...

Re: What bath soap are you using right now?
<t>Been using the Dove Sensitive skin bar for years now (mostly). I don't know if they changed the formula or my skin changed but on a recent diversion into regular soap (Yardley, the English version) it became apparent that the Dove was irritating my skin. I could see and feel the difference on the...

Re: Shaving schedule
I'm with Clive on the barbershop shaves. I've always liked the idea and I've read a lot of horror stories. In the end nobody does it better than me so I'm just keeping it that way. I will say this: that I was sick Thursday and Friday of this week and did not shave. Saturday I was feeling better and ...

Re: Care of Kanayama Strops
I have to say I really like the suede strop, it's got fantastic draw. Really gives you the feeling that it's working. The advice regarding the cordovan and to go slow on it is spot on. That thing is so slick it can really throw you for a loop of you're not prepared for it. It is by far the slickest ...
