I think that's it - it's warped - I remember now having to pay attnetion to leaing on the edge in one direction to get any pressure on the toe.

good thoughts. I have been watching the water and it looks ok but I still wonder if it might not be warped, and the water might only look even based on me putting pressure to accomodate the warp.

Honing challenge

I have a Crown & Sword 6/8 spike point that is giving me a heck of a hassle in honing it. Model is 1720 or something like that, slick black scales. I've gotten it where it shaves fine - look a little sloppy at 4PM but ok. But it's nowhere near where the 30 razors I use regularly are at, and C&am...

I find you get a better lather and shaving experience if you lather it up with a brush and water. Even the "non-lather" creams need water to work properly.

I like both experiences, but if I have the time much prefer cream or soap lathered up with a brush.

it's great with or without brush. I think you might need a little extra water if you brush - been a while.

I dont' have a septic tank, but I can't imagine the soap or cream will have any worse effect than all the other (pardon the jargon) "cr*p" you are flushing into the tank.

A lot of the early negative reviews were from people that didn't own a hart, but were offended by the price in light of the lack of curb appeal. I never understood that. Then some (that actually owned one) complained about grind problems, but then a bunch of good reviews came in. I don't own one so ...

I don't use nortons, but if you check under pyramid method at straightrazorplace.com you should be off to the races.

strop daily, about 20 on linen and 80 on leather, before each shave.

I hated proraso when I starte DE shaving. Now I love it - get great DE or straight shaves from it, and it's a great brushless cream for those mornings when I don't feel good or am in a rush and just want to use my injector in the shower. And the freeze is great.

Who the hell makes it for them anyway, those Gillette owned snobs (ever been in one of their stores)don't manufacture anything themselves (razors-Merkur, brushes-Plisson, straights-Theirs, soap-????)

I like the DRH arlington and marlborough, but the almond feels like someon is shooting nutmeg up my nose with an air gun. So I'm sensitive nasally to that one but not the others - lovely soap though, and doesn't bother my skin. Bottom line is we all react, often randomly, to different things. So you...

I think AOS is superior to MWF on performance, but not by a lot. Both are great. So you really should choose which one smells better to you and which you enjoy. MWF has lanolin which is a bonus for me but a problem for others. And as has been noted, MWF has a pure clean scent to it, and pre latherin...

I got the AOS TI razor - it is carbonsong 135 - even has a little sticker on the box saying so! Shaved this morning - nice stiff blade, nice smooth shave. Spent a little more time on my escher this morning and will try again tommorrow.
