s~s, the carton arrived this morning in good shape. Thanks for the great packing job. By luck I had shaved with AoS Lemon, followed by Pitralon Classic, so the #74 fit right in. A limes that lasts - nice!

I totally misunderstood the title of this post (my mistake, not yours).

"Ok, Penhaligons for sale: what does the rest of this mean?? And a Simpsons Acme?? That doesn't sound like a Simpsons brush name!"

Nice to see you again, Jim. SMF made great strides forward while you were away. Working together, we built an infallible database of the absolute best blade to use for every known DE razor. We scientifically determined which is the best almond soap (surprisingly, guys with huge noses craved more alm...

For me these blades excel in a Gillette NEW. My NEW feels harsh with most modern blades, but Astra Stainless blades make it smooth and steady.

So true. I was excited to pick up a bunch of gentle La Toja shave sticks in Barcelona: what a great souvenir, right? Made my face as pebbly as a basketball, only redder.

Gary, Harris Arlington soap is the one I haven't tried. My understanding is it's a lemon scent; is that correct?

If you're concerned Ed isn't a stand-up guy, here's a solution, based on my experience with him. If your check or cash is lost en route, I'll send Ed $10 to replace it; the USPS won't lose it twice. How's that sound?

Talk Me Out of This

I shaved with my Taylors Sandalwood soap yesterday. I love the scent, just as I love the scent of my TOBS Lavender soap. But the stuff is so freaking "palm-y." The lather simply doesn't compare with tallow soaps, and I already have AoS and DR Harris soaps to replace them. So I think I'm go...

It shouldn't be difficult to get the cap right. Even small producers like Kolynos and Barbus - both metal tubes, by the way - manage to have a cap that holds up.

Re: How does shaving with a combed razor feel?

...My advice would be to stay away from any razor with an Old Type head, since those can bite like a rabid bulldog unless you're very careful... No lie, Martin. My guess is it's related to DE blades back in the day being significantly thicker than they are now. The razors weren't designed to be rab...

Good to see TorzJohnson again, even if he is a zombie! Aaron, you inspired me to find my old tube of Musgo this morning.
