Mantic's recent interview with Andy Tarnoff

Mark, thanks for posting in your blog about your recent interview. Well done! The fact that the interviewer, Mr. Tarnoff, is a recent enthusiastic convert to what he refers to as his new hobby will result in many guys becoming more aware of the simple and inexpensive pleasures involved.

Gil, my first SR was a 4/8, simply because that was the size of the old razor I was trading a tube of SC for. It was just too small for me, but I did learn on it, and sold it at the first opportunity after I started to realize I really needed a little bit larger blade width. I still have two or thre...

Yes Chris, good to hear back from you on this. I'd suggest you just take your time with the creams you have on hand. If you're like me, when I encounter one fragrance or product that just suits me to a T, then I try to stick with that one until such time as I feel like I'm growing weary of it, then ...

My free sample is headed for my doorstep. Regarding the retail price of a tube, I've been browsing around, and (just for example) it appears that Real Shave Company sells a good quality shaving cream as has been posted here a million times, so that's old news, but, my point is that Real SC is priced...

There is too much obsession with catagories and sub catagories these days. I don't want to be limited to just razors or just this or that, I want to see all the new stuff that I might not have known I wanted until I saw one for sale. There is a lot of adventure involved in impulse shopping. If a guy...

I remember the day in the 10th grade in typing class when the baseball coach who was also the typing teacher informed us that there were two sizes of type, maybe not type, maybe something else, but anyway there were two of these, and they were "pica" and "elite". We were informed...

Ursa Major Stellar Shave Cream

Here's the latest entry into the world of brushless shaving creams. There seems to be a bit of a buzz surrounding it. Sells for $21 with free shipping. This is a brand new product, evidently. Now you kinow as much about it as I do. I'm going to email the company and see if they have any more samples...

I am on my first ever puck of Harris lavender and it is very lightly fragranced. Not much smell at all. A couple of years ago I had read glowing reports regarding DRH Lavender, and bought a stick. I was a victim of my wierd sense of smell, and found the Lavender fragrance to be not only pretty weak...

I thought the Rose was a great soap, in both old and new formulae. Then I grew weary of the Rose fragrance and sold both of them. Then along came the Eucris and at first I praised GFT for introducing a new soap, stupidly presuming it was going to be the same formula. I didn't care for the new, new f...

Found: A Big Fellow, a Big Boy Deluxe, and a Rocket HD

In a period of just 2 days, I have had the immense and unbelievable good fortune to have acquired a 1920 Old Type Big Fellow, and a 1930 Big Boy Deluxe gold. This, only two weeks after I found a Rocket HD. I am humbled and amazed by this turn of events. Shocked is the word. When I have recei...

This pot was ordered in for me by my local B&M store in October 2010, at my request. They were out of stock, so the lady called her distributor while I was at the store, and the pot showed up at the store in about 10 days. I am presuming it's newer than my other pot (the one I'm using now) by se...

Gordon, thanks. This is a big help to me, at least. I've been seeing a lot of posts that seemed to be holding the 2 band brushes out as the more choice brushes. I am understanding that the term "2 band" identifies those brushes that are going to perform better than hair with 3 bands of col...
