Re: Grilled Portobello Mushroom Sandwich . . .

I have a recipe similar to yours, except the gills are not removed. The outcome is delicious and makes a tasty alternative to beef burgers. One thing we've found is that they are a bit messy to eat because of all the juices that are released; would removing the gills make a difference in this regar...

Re: Sole en Croute

Chris, Sounds yummy except for the mushrooms. I have this great inherited from my dad aversion for mushrooms. And my daughter shares that aversion with me. But your comment on puff pastry being hard to work with. Got to agree but I found phylo dough even harder to work with when I make spanakopita. ...

Re: Towel Stains

Hmm, laundry, a possibility. I recall an incident when a person slight of statue but large in temperament grew irritated with our local cleaners and decided she would launder some of my dress shirts. Carefully following the box directions as an afterthought (lack actually) tossed in some of her per...

Re: Towel Stains

I have been using dark brown barber towels that my barber got for me from his barber supply house. Have had no problems with any fading. I use both creams and soaps and even use a towel to dry my brush after rinsing and shaking out the water. Sorry to hear about your problem.

Re: Russian Green Box 7 O'clock Blades, a Review

Took your advice a few years ago Squire and now use the Yellow 7'Oclock blades exclusively in my DE's. Thanks for the tip and the many great blade reviews you did. They helped me chose the right blade for me.

Re: Miniscus tear and surgery

You know Squire I know the problem with age and walking and falling. I am kinda in the same boat though may not be your age I'm not far from it. But lugging a cane around is not something I want to do. I need to lug a portable O2 concentrator (thanks to 50 yrs of smoking) and carry a man bag or sort...

Re: Is SMF losing its vigour?

I for one do not read each and every forum daily. But I do come around a couple times a day to see how some of the guys in the few forums I visit are doing and to see if just maybe in those less frequented forums there might be something of interest. Now when I got back to wetshaving in 2008 I joine...

Glad things went well Sam. Now just listen to the Dr and take it easy even if you feel you can do more. Over doing it will set things way back for you. Good Luck with the rehab.

Re: Miniscus tear and surgery

Squire, I agree. A little of the 'piss-and-vinegar' I had is gone . Insurance held up the review of my surgery so it was a no-go on November 5th. It is supposed to be tomorrow, the 12th. The leg does not ache or throb as much, but at times is downright uncomfortable. Those who can endure this and l...

Re: Heads Up! TOBS Cedarwood shaving cream

An update on my TOBS Cedarwood cream. I spoke too soon. Stuff is really good when the shaving part is concerned as I said above but now the scent thing is coming around too. So I would give this a 9.5 on a scale of 10.

Re: Miniscus tear and surgery

Sam, you saying your are an attorney gives me insight as to why you have the avatar you do. Good ol' Rumpole. I have had meniscus surgery on my right knee twice. Nothing with a cyst but did have it. Not too painful after the surgery and was off my feet for a couple days and then walked with a cane f...

Re: Grilled Portobello Mushroom Sandwich . . .

Sounds delicious! Portobellos also make a great "burger". Grill or fry them up, then I slice them, add a bit of cheese and put it all on a toasted roll. Your aioli would be great on it. I'm not a vegan, but portobellos definitely make a good change from meat now and then. Yep, a "bur...

Grilled Portobello Mushroom Sandwich . . .

I hate mushrooms almost as much as I hate GEM Micromatics. Yuck! Yuck! Yuck! Now with that said do not even try to tell me how good they are. Never get me to eat them or use them in "my" food. Now that does not mean that I will not use them to feed someone else, like my bride, who just lov...

Re: Cream vs Soap

Primarily a cream guy here. Once, many years ago I did use some Williams Mug Shave soap courtesy of my uncle who was a barber. But eventually went to the canned creams and jells. When I got back into wetshaving with "real" razors like my vintage DEs, SEs and Injectors I used Tabac soap. Ev...

mrjedi, Looks like you have done good with your razor/blade purchase. And welcome to SMF. I would suggest that you also look around the forum especially the SMF University forum and in that forum look at the Video forum. In particular Mantic's very useful videos. Wetshaving is more than just the rig...

Re: Heads Up! TOBS Cedarwood shaving cream

Got my tub of TOBS Cedarwood cream today. Took a second shower and decided to shave my two day old beard. As usual this new cream from TOBS worked wonders. Easy to lather, nice glide did not take a ton of cream to get the job done. Only disappointment is the scent. Not a really strong scent. I like ...

Squire,
So I should go for the T&H Lime EDT? Kinda leaning that way but I wanted some "expert" confirmation in case there was something out there better. Thanks.
