Re: Am I the only one who missed the Gillette "Heritage" DE Razor?

fallingwickets wrote: Sat Jun 13, 2020 8:10 am sorry to tell you, but the razor or at least the handle part is absolutely nothing like the one being sold at walgreens.

You mean the "Heritage" razor in late 2019 made by Muhle is different from this one at Walgreens? This new one is something different? The price is so similar, too.

Re: Face masks

What I was hoping by using a face shield was to gain more protection for myself, have lower maintenance, and to breathe more easily, while not changing much the protection others get from me. I'm supposing that a cloth mask could absorb possible aerosols from the air. In the countries where the use ...

Re: Face masks

Chris (or anyone else with some familiarity with them), what do you think of clear plastic face shields instead of masks? A friend got some to try, and I've been using one lately.

Re: Am I the only one who missed the Gillette "Heritage" DE Razor?

I did find it at the Gillette website after all: https://gillette.com/en-us/the-latest-from-gillette/king-c-gillette It's officially available only at Walgreens drugstores, but I first saw it on eBay. According to the description at Walgreens.com, the razor is made in China and the blades are from R...

Re: Am I the only one who missed the Gillette "Heritage" DE Razor?

It looks like the same razor is now repackaged for current sale as the King C. Gillette razor. Surprising that Gillette.com doesn't list it among their Father's Day gifts.

There are also blades under the same name, but I haven't yet looked into who makes those, or where.

Re: Kai Original Captain blade

Could the Schick and the Kai be the same blades? If I remember right, the Kai DE blades have no markings, so maybe they contract out all their blades.

Re: Broken Razor Rockwell 6c

If the threads on the head look all right, you could try using a different handle. But also contact Rockwell about it. They'll probably send you a new razor. The easiest way would be if they asked you to send photos rather than return yours. This is how a couple of different companies recently handl...

Re: My Purchase of the Decade

Hi Paul - Are those English-made Wilks that you reference the pillar packs of the last English production (around 2001) that a bunch of us got through a group buy, years ago? If so, I still have three of those pillar packs of 100, myself. I moved on to other blades, so I never gave these much atten...

Re: finally, mastered the futur

The original Gillette Rocket doesn't have a hole at the bottom, either, but I still recommend it. There must be several different grips that work on most razors. What blades are you all using with the Futur? I sold mine years ago, then bought the QShave last year out of curiosity, but haven't tried ...

Re: q shave razors

I bought my "Q" quite a while ago. I don't remember if I tried it, so I just used this method, and discovered that I can remove the handle. Now I understand how "overclocking" happens - the handle is unscrewed an extra turn or more, so that its entire range is too aggressive. Joh...

Re: My Purchase of the Decade

For resale, it was probably the rare Schick aluminum Type F injector razor. I've kept a Type D for now, but if I ever sell it, I may not get quite what I spent on it. For use, there are a few contenders - Maggard slant head, Schick (Japanese) Proline injector blades, Personna 74 blades, Wilkinson En...

Re: FTC blocks sale of Harry's to Edgewell (parent company of Schick)

Since Edgewell owns Schick, Wilkinson, and Personna, and sells things under all those brands, my guess is that they wanted even further diversification to grab more market share. Gillette would be more likely to buy them to kill them, though maybe making use of Harry's German factory acquisition. Bu...

Gillette bought Braun in 1967. P & G bought Gillette in 2005.

Remember, too - this place is called Shave My FACE! :) I've got enough things going on without having to think about manscaping. Sometimes I even skip face shaving. I stopped at 3 blades, though I mostly use double edge or injector razors. A lot of other men stopped at 3, also, judging by the contin...

Re: Do I need a boar brush?

Are split ends pretty obvious when you see them? I have not looked at many brushes. I don't think I ever used a decent boar brush. I've been pleasantly surprised that my inexpensive Tweezerman badger brush rarely sheds any hairs, after having a few boar brushes that shed with every shave, getting wo...

There's a little bit of worn plating on the bottom of the screw on my Jagger head, and the metal underneath is silvery, so I doubt that it's brass.

The Jagger head is the same as the Muhle closed comb head. I think Muhle is the manufacturer.
