The 34C is my main razor and it's the one I reach for about 90% of the time. When I veer away for a while, I always come back to it.

One argument for a cartridge versus a disposable is that cartridges contribute a little less plastic waste over time.

And, for me, cartridges generally give a more comfortable shave.

You could go with a Lord head. Their current Merkur-style heads are very nice. Yes, the are made of the same pot metal that your EJ was made of, but the price is right. The finish isn't stellar, but the shaves balance that out. These heads come on the L6, LP1822 and Smart models. Heck, you could eve...

1.) Scrubbing Bubbles

2.) Boil

3.) Scrub/polish with toothbrush and toothpaste

4.) Mar-V-Cide

Anything left on a razor after all that deserves to be there.

Hi, Rachel -

This place should be on the list:

This has become my choice for haircuts.
I got a great shave there, too, as a Christmas present.

Good luck with the article. Please share your exerience with us.
This is probably answered in some thread here, but are not all the straight bar heads the same on Merkur razors except for the slant? Roger
That is true. The shaves do differ slightly from model to model due to the size, weight and balance of the different handles.

Dave -- I have both of the 1904s and I get better results with the safety bar version. It's more efficient and more intuitive for me.

The open comb gives a gentler shave and, for me, requires a little more work to get a desirable result.

Some of the best advice I got about collecting is not to get into it for financial gain.

Collect what you like, enjoy it as long as you have it, and sell it for a fair price.

If a transaction yields a profit, that's great, but it should not be the sole reason for the endeavor.

The 301s are good for the price. I keep some handy as my "one shave" blades or for travel. Definitely not my daily choice.

There are better blades out there for not much more money.

Well, there were countless bad shaves in the early years, mostly with canned gel or foam and a cartridge or disposable. Little or no prep was usually the cuprit, along with a dose of poor technique. More recently, in the DE era: Easter Sunday, four years ago. I'd just gotten a '48 -'50 Super Speed a...

The 301s arent' bad for the price.
