Re: The benefit of in-person shopping

A few years ago I tried a 10-pack of Gillette Bleue Extras from eBay. A woman in England found a whole palette of them sitting in a warehouse. Nice blade, at least as good as the Spoilers I went through, also from eBay. The price back then was at the upper end of my price range, well below what vint...

Or getting too deep, maybe?

I had quite the elegant shave today with a $10 Razorock brush, a $12 Lord razor, $4 Real Shaving Co. cream, a 12¢ Shark SS blade, and a splash of witch hazel from a $2.49 pint by Tar-zhay (a.k.a. Target).

Re: Face Lathering with a cream

I shave in "travel mode" at the health club 2-3 times a week. Since trying it over a year ago, it's convenient and works great for me. Wet face, wet brush, squeeze a snurdle of cream on the brush, and lather away. I've finished off tubes of Nivea Rasiercreme, Godrej Rich Foam, and am curre...

Re: Replacement blades direct fit for Gillette Sensor 1st ge

You could try a search on eBay. I just did one for the keywords "sensor blade" in Health & Beauty. Most of the results were for Gillette 3-blade cartridges, and prices ran in the $1.60-2.00 per blade range. What generic store brands listed were also 3-blade, w. prices in the $1.00-1.20...

Re: Currency Taking a Pounding

The Canadian $$ is getting "pounded" as much, although we've seen a tad rise in the exchange the past couple of days. And of course, wouldn't you know just when we get a real serious break at the fuel pumps, the Ontario gov't decides to levy a new tax to take advantage of the lower prices...

Re: Gillette SS Late Prod.

The last Super Stainless blades I saw at a Rite Aid store near here were a few years ago. They were $10.49 for a 10-pack in the same dispenser and made in Russia. Outrageous, and I don't remember reading any good things about them on shaving sites. A couple of years ago I finished a 10-pack of Gille...

Re: Gillette Platinum-Plus blade from Brazil

I was at our local grocery store (HEB) yesterday and they had two packs, too!... I am in the lower RGV in Texas, but have not seen these in HEB. Perhaps they are new there this week. I imagine they are the same $5.99 there as well. The Walgreen's stores down here are where I found mine. At that pri...

Re: Another Wet Shaving Moment on Tele

Actor Matthew McConaughey is shown lathering up with a brush in a recent Lincoln car commercial. I noticed that. It goes well with his accent. 8) I wonder if Lincoln is actually selling more cars as a result of bringing him on as their main celebrity spokesperson. I find the Lincoln commercials pre...

Re: Gillette "Reintros" DE Blades

The two packs in my local store was all they had. Hard to imagine they would just buy some NOS and stock something that wouldn't be available for quite some time. Used one this morning. I liked it. I can't say it's as good as my stock of "Swede's", but it is really close. They are for sur...

Re: How Do I Handle the End of A Shaving Stick

Since last year I've been working on at home a puck of Vermont Country Store Apothecary soap. Now that a hole has developed in the center, I've put the stub of an LEA Nueva Formula stick in there. After loading the brush (Semogue 1250) I start whipping things up in a bowl, adding a shot of KMF fragr...
