Sigh. Evidently I messed up the images. Here's the "before" picture of lathering:

Review of Tanglewood '57 Chevy Shaving Soap and Balm

Last week I was in a local vintage store, looking for anything shaving related. I came across a display featuring products by Tanglewood Garden & Farm, and in particular, I was drawn to their “57 Chevy Spearmint & Sandalwood” shaving soap[1] and the accompanying balm, "Man! That's the B...

Re: Faux horse and refurbished Semogue wooden handle

Okay, I'll bite: why have you leaned towards synthetics? The rage these days seems to be all about badger. I've been using a Merkur 38C and horse hair (Vie-Long) brush with hard soaps for the last 4 months or so, after a near lifetime of gels, canned foams, and mega-bladed cartridges. My experience ...

Re: Boots for heavy rain

I bought a pair of Muck boots two years ago, and I'm thrilled with the purchase. I believe they're the 'Arctic Sport' model. I'll wear them ice fishing, sitting in a duck blind, or walking the dogs when it's -20C. They are my go-to footwear when I need to quickly slip on something warm and dry. Yes,...

Re: Texas Moss vs. G20 Scuttle

Thanks, I hope so! I just put in my order.

The sad part is, I promised my wife that I'd leave it in the box until my birthday (end of April). Until then I'll have to be satisfied with peeking at its Cobalt Blue awesomeness from time to time.

I do intend on doing a review, though.

Re: Tabac inspired

I recently finished a small 30ml bottle of Tabac aftershave which I thoroughly enjoyed wearing. Quite "old fashioned" as described above, but very classic and suitable for most occasions I found. Here in the UK it's not terribly easy to find - I actually bought my bottle from a hyper-mark...

Thanks, Murray and John! I'll have a closer look at the Moss (I could email her directly, I suppose).

Texas Moss vs. G20 Scuttle

Gentlemen: With my 60th birthday rapidly approaching, I've decided to spoil myself and order a scuttle; my top two contenders are the Texas Moss and the G20. Question: if you have the Texas Moss, do you lather in the scuttle, and if so, does the inner bowl rattle against the outer? (I'm concerned ab...

Re: Horse hair brush

Hello everyone, Yes I realise I'm late to the party but as a new member and a recent convert to DE razors (3 months) I'm going through the old posts. I've been wet shaving for years now, using canned foam and 5-bladed razors. <gasp, I *know*, right> In December I moved from the $6CDN drug store synt...
