I have a hunch everybody knows the answer except me, but how else am I going to learn how to communicate if I don't learn the language and asking dumb questions seems to be my usual course of action.

Excellent point, Tst. If those pores are shut, then how does all that good stuff get down in there and go to work?

Gary, I was interested in trying products that others had not when I first got into wet-shaving, but after wasting time, money, and having bum shaves I realized it was better to go with the products that everyone agreed were good. This is espcecially true if you don't have the best quality water in...

Brushless, you say? OK, maybe I shouldn't rush into something. But, you know, that's why I asked.

Speaking of Fraser's, I am now the proud owner of a new cup of Fraser Polar Ice, and it is going to be excellent, judging from just one shave with it, so far. I think it's going to work out nicely.

That's a tough call, just because my ability to identify and differentiate between closely related scents leaves a lot to be desired. I'd say it is a soft combination of lemon and orange. Whatever it is, I like it. After trying this one, I'm interested in the other versions. What is Commando like?

Look out! If a guy wasn't ready for that ice cold towel, it could give somebody a heart attack! Yikes!

Vitalis still works for me

I would just like to take this opportunity to say that I've recently acquired a different hair style, thanks to an opportune reference (by my lovely wife) to her own hair stylist. As a result, I reached deep into the recesses of my bathroom cabinet, and came out with a 1/3 full bottle of vintage Vit...

Some additional thoughts on this product: I am quite interested in the learned opinions of anyone and everyone who may have used this shaving cream, however, at that price, at some point I think I'll order one or two tubs "just because". How can one go wrong? Here's how I see it. Let's say...

Arko Citrus

Someone gave me a tube of Arko Citrus recently, included along with a shipment of other shaving goods, so this morning I tried it for the first time and had very positive results. Therefore, I just want to say thank you to Giovanni at Razor & Brush for the excellent products and service. Best Re...

One guy's preferences are always going to be a little different than the next guy's. I don't personally feel any appreciation for a cold water dousing after the shave. To me, it is just uncomfortable and tends to take any resemblance to a pleasant experience out of it. Example, yesterday we had no r...

No offense intended, I'm just curious. What location would not be eligible to receive liquids? The only places I can think if is someplace really cold, like Antarctica, or maybe due to some legal restrictions, like a prison or something, and I am guessing with great certainty that you aren't in eith...

Heavy Beard, didn't shave yesterday, didn't know how this was going to work out. Nice hot shower. ShaveSecret pre-shave, first time I ever thought about using it, new from Walmart yesterday. Trac II. First time it's been used in at least 34 years. It belonged to my brother. New Walmart cartridge. W...

I do respect the consensus, and perhaps I've just been seeing the Kent soap deal on ebay where you get 2 pucks for something like $44 and I think that is plus shipping unless I'm wrong, and admittedly, I'm careful to try keep my mind open, even when it seems kind of stuck. I was just reporting on wh...

I am new to this great SMF board, and have been reading a lot. I haven't posted much yet, because I'm in my learning curve. It seems that I learn more by listening than talking! Funny thing, right? Thanks to you gentlemen, I really look forward to shaving every day. Regarding the Mitchell's Wool Fat...

Brothers, Welcome to SMF. If you've got quality, properly stored, DE blades from the '70s or '80s you are very fortunate. IMO, the Wilkinson, Schick, and most Gillette blades from that era are superior to almost anything made today. I use those vintage blades whenever I can get them. When I can't, ...
