Thanks, Jason. I am not going to tell my wife that I have tentatively crossed the CH3 off my acquisition list. Perhaps she will surprise me with one for my birthday. :) Now I am thinking that a nice combination of large brushes would be a Stubby 3 and a CH3 Best. I suspect the Stubby 3 is a bit more...

Thank you all for your input. I have decided to not get a CH3. Perhaps I shall wait and see if another brush is offered in the Heritage line.

Cordially,

I am not sure what to think of Merkur blades. I had always found them to be rather dull but I just used a Merkur in a Fatboy set on 9 and got 14 really nice shaves! I have one more Merkur left and have not yet decided how to use it -- either in a Fatboy on 9 again or a Futur on 6. I may to have buy ...

Thanks, Sam. I find both the CH2 and the Emillion to be excellent and cannot see myself parting with either one. And I am not so sure that the CH3 would be different enough to warrant the expense. Since I already have three Rooneys, perhaps I need to reconsider a Plisson 12 EW.

CH3 Best for Face Lathering

For the last couple months I have been using a CH2 Best for building the lather on my face. SBAD being what it is, I have been hearing the inward call of the CH3 Best. :) Do any of you gentlemen have experience with a CH3 Best for face lathering? I would be interested to hear your observations, both...

Fatboy and Progress on High

The last two weeks I have been getting great shaves with my Fatboy on 9. Now I am wondering if a Progress on its highest setting would be more or less aggressive than a Fatboy wide open. Do any of you have experience with this? Thanks. :)

Warm regards,
Dale

I have a Stubby Medium and absolutely love it. I'm not a collector type and though I know I'll get another brush someday at this time see no point. It's just about perfect (t hough I do wonder whether I'd prefer the Emillion for it's larger handle or not). My other brushes are a Vulfix 2235 (which ...

Twenty two years ago my wife bought me a Futur for my birthday and I used it pretty much all the time. Last May she bought me a Slant and I find myself using it more and more -- to the point where it is my main razor. I love the simplicity of the Slant and its smaller size, not to mention its close ...

You might have a lot of fun with a Futur. I have been using one for over 20 years and still find it challenging. :) Have fun!

Hi Tim, I have had a Rooney Style 2 Finest and currently use an Emillion and a Stubby 2, so here are a few observations: Rooney Style 2 Finest: Worked equally well with soaps and creams. Resilient shafts with soft tips. Tips were a bit scritchy when lathering in a circular motion but they did soften...

Hi Ian, I have a Vulfix 2233 and I sometimes use it with soaps and build the lather on my face -- but it is a lot of work. All three of the Rooney styles in small and Silvertip or Super Silvertip should do a fine job for you. The Style 2 has a longer handle, but I have found that at times a little l...

Within the last few months I have had two Rooney Style 2 Finest brushes that I returned due to excessive shedding. The vendor was wonderful and took care of everything. I have two of the Heritage line brushes with a third on the way. No signs of shedding with the Heritage brushes.

Gillette SS date code

I have a SS with code L4. When was this razor made? And how can I learn to read date codes? :) Thanks.

I have never used an SR, but I do know they are very popular and much-loved brushes. I am sure someone will along to comment on the SR. :)
